March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers when caught early through screening. For many people without health insurance, though, these tests can feel out of reach.

At InterFaith Health Center, we help make colon cancer screening possible through our care team and community partnerships, helping patients detect problems early when treatment is most effective. Access to preventive care like this can truly save lives. If you are a patient and would like to schedule a colon cancer screening, please call 865-546-7330.

We’re delighted to welcome John T. Dawson, M.D., an ophthalmologist with East Tennessee Eye Surgeons, as a new volunteer at InterFaith Health Center!

Dr. Dawson began seeing patients this week in the Center’s new ophthalmology room, and our patients are already benefiting from his thoughtful, compassionate care. Thank you, Dr. Dawson, for generously volunteering your time and expertise to help expand on-site specialty care for our patients!

35 years ago today, InterFaith Health Center opened our doors for the first time in our original building on Gill Avenue. While much has grown and changed over the years, one thing has remained the same: our mission to provide compassionate, affordable health care to our neighbors in need.

We are grateful for the volunteers, partners, and supporters who have walked alongside us in this work, and we look forward to continuing to bring health and hope to our community for many years to come.
