Goodbyes are SO hard, especially when you're saying goodbye to a really BIG part of your work family. 😭

After 15 years at Shults Pediatrics, we said see ya soon to the amazing Rebekah! We are going to miss her so much but are so happy we were able to celebrate her well before she started her new position! We came together for some yummy food and stories of Rebekah over the years! 👩‍⚕️Celebrating the newest NURSE on our team!‍🩺

Congratulations to Kaley who has been a part of our team for nearly five years as a Certified Medical Assistant who recently graduated from nursing school! 💜

We are SO excited that Kaley will be staying on our team, now as an RN!✨ While working with us, she will be continuing her education at Vanderbilt University in hopes of becoming a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Congratulations, Kaley! We are so proud of you! 🎉

A bittersweet farewell! 💜

Our incredible Rebekah is leaving Shults Pediatrics for a new adventure! Rebekah has been a part of our team for 15 years and has made a huge impact on our families and our team. She and Dr. Shults worked together to start our lactation department and has helped grow the program into what it is now! Rebekah also worked on getting us partnered with Mothers’ Milk Bank of Tennessee, among other countless things she’s handled!

We are so proud of her and cannot wait to watch everything she will accomplish but we are going to miss her so much! 💜

A few years ago, Rebekah got her IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) Certificate and has helped new moms tackle breastfeeding! In her new role, she will be sharing her lactation knowledge with families and other clinicians in our area as the Clinical Nurse Educator at Methodist Medical Center Family Birthing Center! If you see Rebekah around, be sure to wish her luck on her new adventure! Her last day with us will be Friday, July 11th.

She is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to nutrition and wants to share it with everyone she meets. Mandy always keeps us laughing with her quick banter! One of our co-workers who works closely with her shares how much we all love her at Shults Peds:

☀ Stay shady, stay safe! It's UV Safety Month! ⛱

July is Ultraviolet (UV) Safety Month, but what are UV rays? Ultraviolet rays come from the sun, tanning beds and sunlamps. There are three types of UV rays: UVA, UVB and UVC.

✨UVA: Leads to premature aging. Tanning beds operate by emitting primarily UVA rays
✨UVB: Primary cause of sunburn and several types of skin cancers, including melanoma. These rays can also damage eyes and the immune system.
✨UVC: The only way to be exposed by these rays is from an artificial source like a lamp or laser.

Take a look at some tips to protect you and your kiddos from UVA and UVB overexposure this summer! When selecting sunscreen, look for SPF (Sun Protection Factor) and make sure it provides protection from UVA AND UVB rays! The higher the SPF, the more protection. Always apply 15 minutes before heading outdoors, after swimming, towel dry and extended sun exposure. 💜
