If you're like most people, you have trouble making a lifestyle change last. What the GLP-1s do is help you maintain that change. That's why it's a maintenance drug that you stay on.

Given the vast benefits we're seeing with the GLP-1/GIP (Semaglutide/Tirzepatide) medications, I predict most people will be on some form of these medications in the future.

The FDA regulates drugs. They do not regulate doctors. That’s why doctors can do so many good “off-label” things.

GLP-1 medications were initially designed for diabetes management, but their benefits extend far beyond that. In my practice, I’ve witnessed incredible results in weight loss, cardiovascular health, neuroprotection, and even reversing fatty liver disease. These medications can also aid in managing conditions like PCOS and migraines, which is often overlooked. The potential to reduce the risk of kidney disease and improve emotional well-being is another significant advantage. It’s fascinating to see how these drugs can help patients reclaim their health. Many people struggle with metabolic dysfunction, and GLP-1s offer a pathway to a healthier life. If you’re dealing with obesity, diabetes, or other related conditions, consider discussing GLP-1s with your healthcare provider. The evidence is compelling, and the results can be transformative.

Only 20% of senior women — and even fewer men — are on hormone replacement therapy. And that’s a shame.

We’ve been misled for years about the risks and benefits of hormone therapy. The truth? Estrogen reduces the risk of:

• Breast cancer

• Heart disease

• Colon cancer

• Osteoporosis

• Ovarian cancer

• Even dementia

The only real problem from past hormone therapy came from medroxyprogesterone — a synthetic form of progesterone — which is very different from natural bioidentical progesterone. Even then, only 1 in 1,000 women had an adverse effect.

The confusion stems from a flawed study called the Women’s Health Initiative. It scared both doctors and patients for decades — but the science has moved on. Unfortunately, most doctors were never taught the truth about bioidentical hormones and Big Pharma is not going to promote it because there is no money in it for them.

The same is true for men. They’ve been told that testosterone causes prostate cancer or increases risk for stroke or blood clots. It doesn’t. In fact, testosterone protects the heart and improves cardiovascular health.

In 2025 the FDA has removed the black box warning regarding cardiovascular risk from all testosterone product labels. Even the Journal of Urology now confirms that testosterone is not contraindicated in men with a history of prostate cancer.

If you’re a senior adult, hormone optimization may be the single most powerful thing you can do to improve your healthspan. Don’t miss the boat. Talk with a doctor who is up to date and specializes in this because a lot of doctors are not going to have a clue. Hopefully this will change.

What I’ve learned after years in integrative medicine is this: almost everything starts in the gut.

When patients come to us with fatigue, bloating, brain fog, joint pain, skin issues—or even autoimmune conditions like lupus or psoriasis—we almost always trace it back to gut health.

It’s not just about IBS, Celiac, or Crohn’s. The gut is central to how your entire body functions.

👉 70% of your immune system lives in your gut.
👉 99% of the DNA in your body isn't even your DNA—it's the DNA of your gut bacteria.

Your microbiome is running the show.

If your gut is off, your health is off. It's that simple.

We’ve seen it time and time again: healing begins in the gut.
