“Peter has played a pivotal role in my healing journey, and I will always feel thankful for how much he has helped me.

I’ve had back pain for over 10 years and during that time I visited doctors, a chiropractor, and a traditional physical therapist practice. The visits with those practitioners felt SO rushed, and the back pain didn’t get better. Things didn’t start to improve in a meaningful, lasting way until l I started doing sessions with Peter. What sets him apart are 1) his patience and presence, and 2) his experience. He’s been doing physical therapy for a long time, and he’s very educated and knowledgeable. He also takes the time to explain things and answer questions in a way that has made me feel empowered, as I learned to understand my own body mechanics. What’s very important to me is how Peter has made me feel listened to and validated, which meant a whole lot to me after being dismissed and rushed by other practitioners.

Peter is skilled at myofascial release and has an intuitive touch. I’ve learned effective stretches and techniques to do at home in order to facilitate long-term healing. I do consider my sessions with Peter to be life-changing, and I couldn’t recommend his services enough.”

Over three decades of hands on body work I have developed an integrative approach to treating the whole person. This method is based on osteopathic and myofascial techniques that identify and treat compensatory patterns in the body. Most recently I have been treating a number of individuals with an assortment of gastrointestinal issues including GERD, Reflux, IBS, SIBO, anxiety (aka gut brain connection) bloating, diarrhea, constipation. Blending Myofascial Release, Visceral Manipulation ) think anything from collarbones to p***c bone and down the midline of the body, basically the entire torso - thoracic, abdominal and pelvic cavities, all of the organs contained there within. To be clear a restriction in one of these areas can reflect into any of the extremities. For example a restriction in the liver can influence the right hip. And it really is not rocket science but basic anatomy and biomechanics. Have a question feel free to call me at 513-785-9993.

Are you familiar with the body tissue known as fascia, which may hold health clues to support more effective patient care?

It's the only tissue that modifies its consistency when under stress (it's your body's shape-shifter, of sorts). It's said that by releasing fascia through bodywork, it could be possible that fascia becomes more pliable, lymphatic fluid flow increases and swelling goes down. Just wanted to take a moment to write a few thoughts as we head into another week of shelter in place. I've noticed on FB a pattern where people are talking about increased sense of anxiety and stress because the activities they turn to have been taken away or greatly decreased. From experience, this is a time when spiritual practices - not religious practices - can be of utmost importance. Ok, yes this is sounding like meditation, it is at a very base level.

Rather then trying to repress the anxiousness the antidote is to actually embrace how we are feeling. In order to do this we need to slow down, preferably in a comfortable sitting position. The basic idea is that we allow the emotion to come up and then simply observe what is happening in our body.

So the practice would go like this:
Breathing in I feel the anxiousness in my body
Breathing out I let go.

You can start at the top of your head reciting this then upper back and chest, down through your arms out the finger tips

Coming back to the chest and upper back, down through your rib cage feeling a sense of warmth and relaxation as you recognize the sensation of anxiousness and then letting it go.

By the time we get to our feet and toes we should feel a sense of calmness or relaxation.

If random thoughts arise, recognize them with a single word like wandering or day dreaming and come back to your breath.

Repeating:
Breathing in I feel the anxiousness in my body (substitute any part of your body where the sensation is the strongest)
Breathing out I let go.

Try this starting with 5 to 10 minutes and gradually increasing as desired. Please leave comments on your experience.

Do you ever wonder what you're missing when physically active clients return time and time again with the same alignment problems you addressed in previous visits?

The organs (viscera) may be the answer to that question. According to Jean-Pierre Barral, DO, MRO(F), RPT, 90% of musculoskeletal problems have a visceral component. So how do we treat the organs? Visceral Manipulation, often referred to as the missing link in manual techniques, is the answer. http://bit.ly/2ozCTSR

In this article, Visceral Manipulation (VM), known as the organ massage that can help to heal pain, digestion and other problems, is explained, accompanied by a brief tutorial on how to do a gentler form of VM for a few minutes 2-3 times per week. This isn't a daily practice or a substitute for VM performed by a practitioner, but it can serve as a great support in between your appointments. http://bit.ly/2oBld9W
