It's Okay to Ask for Help 💚

Mental health matters—just as much as physical health.

If you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, or simply not yourself, you’re not alone. Life can be incredibly tough sometimes, and asking for help is not a weakness—it's a strength. It takes courage to say, "I need support."

Whether it’s talking to a trusted friend, reaching out to a counselor, or scheduling a visit with your healthcare provider, that first step can make all the difference.

Let’s break the stigma and remind each other:
🧠 Your mental health is important.
🤝 Support is out there.
💬 You deserve to feel better.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please don’t wait. We're here to help. 💙

🌸 Ladies, have you scheduled your yearly GYN exam?

A yearly gynecological exam is so much more than a Pap smear. It’s a chance to:
✔️ Screen for cervical & breast cancer
✔️ Discuss periods, menopause, or birth control
✔️ Catch infections or health issues early
✔️ Talk openly about your reproductive health

Even if you feel fine, these visits help you stay ahead of any changes your body might be going through.

⏰ It’s once a year — and it could make all the difference.

Monitoring blood pressure (BP) at home is a great way to manage hypertension and overall cardiovascular health. Here are the steps to do it correctly:

1. Choose a Reliable Blood Pressure Monitor
-Use an automatic, cuff-style upper arm monitor (not wrist or finger monitors).
-Make sure it’s clinically validated and fits your arm size.

2. Prepare Properly
-Avoid caffeine, alcohol, to***co, and exercise for at least 30 minutes beforehand.
-Sit quietly for 5 minutes before measuring.

3. Sit Correctly
-Sit in a chair with back support, both feet flat on the floor.
-Keep your arm relaxed and still, palm up.

4. Apply the Cuff Correctly
-Wrap the cuff snugly around the bare upper arm, about 1 inch above the elbow.
-Make sure the tubing is positioned over the brachial artery (inside of your arm).

5. Take the Reading
-Press the start button and remain still and silent during the reading.
-Wait for the cuff to inflate and deflate.
-Record the systolic (top) and diastolic (bottom) numbers, as well as pulse.
-Do this at the same time each day, ideally morning and evening.

6. Record Your Readings
-Keep a log or use an app to track readings over time.
-Include the date, time, readings, and any notes (e.g., stress, symptoms).

7. Share With Your Provider
-Bring your log to appointments as recommended.

If you need help monitoring your blood pressure or controlling hypertension please call MMC today.

🩺 Primary Care Tip of the Day
Stay ahead of high blood pressure — even if you feel fine!
Hypertension is often called the “silent killer” because it can have no symptoms. Regular check-ups help catch it early and keep your heart healthy.

✅ Get your blood pressure checked at least once a year (at your physical!)
✅ Maintain a low-sodium diet
✅ Stay active and manage stress

*if needed, medicate your high blood pressure*

Our clinic can help you stay on track with easy, personalized care.

Tips and Tricks to Beat those Seasonal Allergies

🌼 1. Avoid Allergen Triggers
Stay indoors on high pollen days, especially during peak times (early morning). Keep windows closed and use air conditioning or HEPA filters to reduce indoor allergens like pollen, mold, and dust.

🧽 2. Keep Indoor Air Clean
Use high-efficiency air filters and clean them regularly. Reduce dust mites by using hypoallergenic bedding and washing sheets in hot water once a week.

💊 3. Use Medications as Needed
Over-the-counter antihistamines, nasal sprays, and decongestants can relieve allergy symptoms. For more persistent issues, prescription medications or allergy shots (immunotherapy) may be recommended by your provider.

🧼 4. Rinse Nasal Passages
Saline nasal irrigation (like a neti pot) can help flush out allergens and mucus. Always use distilled or sterile water to avoid introducing bacteria.

🌍 5. Monitor Allergy Forecasts
Stay informed about local pollen and mold counts through apps or weather services, and plan your time outdoors when levels are lower.
