Employee Spotlight: Sandra Mercado

We are thrilled to shine the spotlight on Sandra Mercado, a dedicated and compassionate member of the Mynatt Funeral Home team. With over three years of experience as a Funeral Director’s Assistant, Sandra has been a vital part of our family, ensuring that grieving families receive the care and support they need during some of their most challenging times.

Sandra’s journey into the funeral services industry was not planned; it was a path that found her and one she wholeheartedly embraced. Her diverse background, ranging from retail and customer service to production manufacturing, has equipped her with a unique skill set that she leverages to provide exceptional service to the families she serves. Her role allows her to make a meaningful impact, and she finds fulfillment in helping families navigate their grief and honoring their loved ones.

Sandra is passionate about learning and understanding the needs of each family. Although the most challenging part of her job is managing the tight timelines between meeting families and their services, Sandra is committed to making sure every family's wishes come to fruition. Her ability to connect and communicate with Spanish-speaking families is an invaluable asset, breaking down language barriers to ensure everyone receives the respect and dignity they deserve.

Outside of work, Sandra finds joy in her two children, who she considers her greatest achievement. A lover of books and an enthusiastic salsa and cumbia dancer, she spends her free time with her kids, her best friends, her sister Daniela, and her mom.

Sandra attributes the success of Mynatt Funeral Home to the collaborative and supportive nature of its employees, whom she affectionately describes as a "dysfunctional, functional family." She believes that the diverse skills and the community-oriented leadership at Mynatt Funeral Home make it a wonderful place to work and serve the community.

Thank you, Sandra, for your unwavering dedication and the warmth you bring to Mynatt Funeral Home. We are beyond grateful for your contributions and proud to have you as part of our team.

“Tony was a hard worker, proud animal lover and lived with the wind at his back. As a foreman with KCS, his hard work helped to build and maintain Knoxville schools over the years. In his free time, Tony spent his weekends amongst nature with his dogs. He mountain biked across the continental United States with anyone who’d pick up a bike and would teach anyone who couldn’t. He loved animals of all kinds, but loved dogs above anything else. Trouble, Nugget, and Honey are only some of the animals who enriched his life.”
