Field Trip to Gray Fossil Site Museum.

Asbury Place residents had an exciting educational journey into the past! We headed to the Gray Fossil Site Museum, home to a world-class paleontological site in Northeast Tennessee.

Located at ETSU, this dynamic hub for science and education offers a rare glimpse into life five million years ago. We explored ancient fossils, learn about prehistoric creatures, and discover how paleontology is shaping our understanding of the region's history.

Asbury Place Maryville vs. Asbury Place Kingsport: A Volleyball Showdown for a Cause.

On June 20th—The Longest Day—residents from Asbury Place Maryville challenged our sister community, Asbury Place Kingsport, to a friendly volleyball match in honor of the Alzheimer's Association. The event, held on the summer solstice, was more than just a game—it was a powerful way to raise awareness and funds to help end Alzheimer’s.

With energy high and spirits even higher, both teams played their hearts out. As we stood together on the day with the most light, we united in the fight against the darkness of Alzheimer’s disease.

Following the match, residents and team members shared a delicious lunch in the Bistro and cooled down with soft-serve treats from the Swirley Serve ice cream truck—a well-earned reward for an inspiring day of fun, fellowship, and purpose.

Together, we’re proving that every action, no matter how playful, can make a difference.

Our outing to the Greenback Museum and Greenback Diner was a memorable journey through time, steeped in the rich history of a town that dates back to the 1800s. Nestled in the heart of this small Tennessee community, the museum offered a vivid glimpse into the past, with artifacts, photographs, and stories lovingly preserved by locals. The experience was made even more special knowing that three generations of family members and longtime residents have contributed to the museum’s collection and curation, bringing their personal histories to life for visitors. After exploring the museum, we enjoyed a meal at the charming Greenback Diner, where the warm hospitality and vintage decor completed the nostalgic experience. Together, the museum and diner serve as a living tribute to Greenback’s enduring legacy and the people who have worked tirelessly to preserve it. ,

Thank you, Steve Danesi, Consultant and Placement Specialist at Senior Care Authority, presented an informative program titled "Driving Beyond Dignity." The session focused on the challenges and considerations related to driving as an older adult.

The program included an Enhanced Self-Assessment for older drivers, designed to help individuals evaluate their current driving abilities. Additionally, Continuing Education Programs were discussed, offering resources and strategies to support safe driving practices.

Our residents actively engaged in a meaningful discussion about the various factors that influence aging drivers, such as physical changes, medication effects, and reaction times. They also explored alternative transportation options and supportive services that can help maintain independence even if driving becomes less feasible.
