Endocrinology Consultants of East Tennessee specializes in the treatment of various endocrine diseases and metabolic disorders, including diabetes. Our board certified physicians have been serving the East Tennessee region and surrounding counties since 1987. To that end, we work in close consultation with your primary care physician to provide a comprehensive care plan that strives for the highest quality outcomes. Phone calls are answered from 8:00am - 4:30pm Mon - Thurs and 8:00am - 11:30am on Fridays; excludes holidays. Answering service will take calls outside of these hours.

Updated hours for 2/2/2026.

All three locations, Knoxville, Maryville , and Oak Rigde will open at 9:00am tomorrow morning, 2/2/2026. If you are scheduled prior to 9:00am you will need to contact the office to reschedule. If your appointment is at 9:00am or after you will arrive 1 hour before your appointment to do your labs/testing.

We would like to congratulate Dr. John Williams on his recent retirement. Dr. Williams went to medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and trained in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at Johns Hopkins. He left the faculty of the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1998 to join ECET and he had been here ever since. Dr. Williams is greatly missed by his patients and the staff at ECET. We would like to thank him for his 37 years of service, we wish him well on his much-deserved retirement.

We Welcome David Irizarry, M.D.

Endocrinology Consultants of East Tennessee would like to welcome David Irizarry, M.D. to the practice. Dr. Irizarry comes to us with over 10 years of experience as an endocrinologist, and 7 years practicing in Blount County. He is originally from New York City and received his undergraduate degree from Fordham University. Dr. Irizarry went to the University of Buffalo for graduate and medical school training. He then completed his internal medicine residency at Yale New Haven Hospital, followed by an endocrinology fellowship at the University of Florida. He is certified in neck ultrasonography by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) and is a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM).
He prides himself on being a strong patient advocate and enjoys educating his patients. His general philosophy for patient care focuses on that of teamwork. Dr. Irizarry strongly feels that gradual education of individuals during visits, leads to a better understanding of their diseases, and inevitably to healthier and happier patients.
Dr. Irizarry has been married for over 15 years to Juliana. They are proud parents of Logan, Olivia and Mylo (a Miniature Schnauzer). He enjoys spending time with his family, cheering on his children during their sports activities, working out, swimming, and watching SEC college basketball. He is an avid UT Vols fan, except for when they play against the Gators.

Endocrinology Consultants is on a two hour weather delay. If your scheduled appointment is before 10AM today, please call to reschedule. If your appointment is at 10AM or later the lab and pre-testing will open at 9AM.

ALCOA AND OAK RIDGE OFFICE
Our office will open at 10AM if your scheduled appointment is before 10AM please contact us to reschedule your appointment.
