You’re not falling apart.
You’re carrying too much.

The calendar is full.
The mental list never ends.

You’re managing appointments, responsibilities, emotions, and expectations—often for everyone else—while running on empty yourself.

You’re capable.
You’re responsible.
And you’re exhausted in a way that sleep doesn’t fix.

That tightness in your chest.
The racing thoughts at 2 a.m.
The snapping at people you love… followed by guilt.

That’s not a character flaw.
That’s what happens when you’ve been carrying too much for too long.

Therapy isn’t about being broken.
It’s about having a space that’s finally just for you—a place to breathe, gain clarity, and figure out what needs to change so life feels manageable again.

You don’t have to keep pushing through alone.

Something new is coming in 2026 — and I’m inviting a small group of couples to experience it first.

The Relationship Reset Intensive is a 3-hour focused couples session designed for partners who feel stuck in patterns, disconnected, or ready to rebuild their connection with purpose and guidance.

💬 Before the official launch in January, preview sessions are available November 29 & 30 at a founding client rate of $900 (regular $1,500 starting January).

In our 3 hours together, we’ll:
→ Identify the patterns keeping you stuck
→ Develop practical communication tools tailored to your relationship
→ Practice new skills with real-time coaching
→ Create a clear action plan for moving forward

This format is for couples who:
✓ Are both committed to showing up
✓ Want focused intervention over weekly sessions
✓ Need expert guidance without long-term commitment

🔸 Limited availability over Thanksgiving weekend

🌿 Finding Courage in the Everyday 🌿

Courage doesn’t always look like bold leaps or fearless choices.
Sometimes, courage is getting out of bed when your heart feels heavy.
It’s showing up to therapy even when it’s uncomfortable.
It’s setting a boundary, telling your truth, or allowing yourself to rest.

At Jones Family Counseling, we believe courage grows in small, steady steps — in moments when you choose healing, honesty, and hope. You don’t have to be fearless to be brave. You just have to take the next right step.

If you’re in a season that’s asking for more courage than you feel you have, you’re not alone. Healing takes heart, and we’re here to walk beside you. 💛

🌤️ Coping with Seasonal Depression: Practical Ways to Care for Your Mind and Mood

By Lisa Jones, LPC-MHSP
Jones Family Counseling

If you’ve been dragging yourself out of bed lately, craving carbs by 3 PM, and feeling like you could hibernate until spring — you’re not imagining it. And you’re not alone.

As the days grow shorter and daylight fades earlier, many people notice real changes in their mood, motivation, and energy. For some, this is more than the “winter blues.” It’s Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) — a type of depression that follows a seasonal pattern. The American Psychiatric Association reports that about 5% of Americans experience SAD, often for nearly half the year.

Even for those who don’t meet full diagnostic criteria, darker months can still bring sadness, irritability, fatigue, or disconnection. Licensed Professional Counselor Lisa Jones works with individuals, couples, children, and families who experience these changes, helping them find practical ways to cope and care for their emotional health during difficult seasons.

☀️ 1. Prioritize Sunlight Exposure

Natural light improves mood and regulates your body’s internal clock. Open blinds early, take short outdoor walks (even on cloudy days), and consider a light therapy lamp to mimic natural sunlight.

💪 2. Stay Physically Active

Movement boosts endorphins and fights sluggishness. Exercise doesn’t have to be intense — even 10 minutes of stretching, dancing, or walking can lift your mood.

🧘‍♀️ 3. Practice Mindfulness and Routine

Ground yourself with simple, predictable daily rhythms. Go to bed and wake up at similar times, eat balanced meals, and use relaxation tools like mindfulness or deep breathing.

🤝 4. Connect with Others

Isolation worsens symptoms. Reach out to friends, family, or community groups. Meet someone for coffee, join a class, or just send a check-in text. Connection helps restore energy and perspective.

🩺 5. Seek Professional Support

If low mood or fatigue interfere with daily life, therapy can help. Lisa provides a compassionate space for clients to process emotions, heal from distress, and rediscover hope.
At Jones Family Counseling, Lisa supports individuals, couples, children, and families in finding balance and peace. She also specializes in treating PTSD, depression, anxiety, and trauma-related symptoms that can intensify during the darker months.

💛 Final Encouragement

Seasonal depression doesn’t mean weakness. It’s a real, biological response to changes in light and rhythm. With awareness, self-care, and support, brighter days can return long before spring arrives.

If you or someone you love is struggling this season, Lisa Jones can help.

🌿 Surviving the Holidays: Finding Peace in a Busy Season

The holiday season doesn’t wait until December anymore. By mid-November, the decorations are up, calendars are packed, and expectations start to pile on. For many people, this season brings joy but also pressure, grief, and exhaustion.

If you’re already feeling that familiar heaviness, take a deep breath. You’re not behind and you’re not alone. The holidays can be both beautiful and complicated.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing five simple, practical ways to help you protect your peace this season, from managing expectations and setting boundaries to finding quiet moments that restore your heart.

If you’ve been feeling the weight of it all and could use some extra support, I have a few openings for new clients in Knoxville and across Tennessee (online).

It is Testing Season for the Public Schools. Here are 10 tips to help with testing anxiety.

🧠 1. Practice Positive Self-Talk
Start the day with kind thoughts! Remind yourself:
• “I can do this.”
• “I’ve got this!”
• “I don’t have to be perfect, just do my best.”
________________________________________
🌬️ 2. Do a Deep Breathing Exercise
Try square breathing before you leave for school or when you sit at your desk:
• Inhale (4 seconds) 🟦
• Hold (4 seconds) 🟦
• Exhale (4 seconds) 🟦
• Hold (4 seconds) 🟦
(Imagine tracing a square in the air or on your desk!)
________________________________________
👟 3. Move Your Body
Stretch, take a short walk, or do a few jumping jacks in the morning to shake out nerves. A little movement helps your brain wake up and feel calm.
________________________________________
🦋 4 Try the Butterfly Hug
This simple calming trick helps your body and brain feel safe and focused.
How to do it:
1. Cross your arms over your chest like you’re giving yourself a hug.
2. Put your hands on your upper arms or shoulders (like butterfly wings).
3. Gently tap your hands back and forth, slowly, like wings flapping.
4. Breathe deeply while you tap.
You can do this in the morning or right before the test to feel calm and grounded.

________________________________________
🎵 5. Listen to Something Calming
Start your morning with soft music or a fun song you love. It can help lift your mood and make your morning feel more relaxed.
________________________________________
😌 6. Normalize Mistakes
It’s totally okay not to know every answer. Everyone makes mistakes—even adults! What matters most is trying your best.
________________________________________
🍎 7. Start with a Healthy Breakfast
Eat something that fuels your brain, like fruit, eggs, or toast. Avoid too much sugar, which can make you feel jittery later.
________________________________________
💧 8. Stay Hydrated
Drink water in the morning and bring a water bottle if allowed. Being hydrated helps your brain think clearly.
________________________________________
🧺 9. Get Organized the Night Before
Lay out your clothes, pack your backpack, and double-check your supplies. A calm morning starts with being ready the night before.
________________________________________
🕊️ 10. Visualize Success
Before you start, close your eyes and picture yourself calmly taking the test, reading each question, and doing your best. You’ve got this!
