Did you know that today is World Porridge Day? First celebrated in 2009, this day raises awareness for starving children in less developed countries. Porridge, often made from rolled oats or ground oatmeal, is popular in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, North America, Finland, and Scandinavia. It’s commonly called "porridge" or, in the United States and Canada, "oatmeal." In the US, both oat and wheat porridge are often referred to as "hot cereal."
