When I talk about parent brain science, I'm not talking about small studies or anecdotes.

Researchers from Yale, the University of Melbourne, the National University of Singapore, and several other institutions scanned the brains of nearly 38,000 parents. MRI scans. Real data.

This is the largest neuroimaging study of parental brain function ever conducted. The science on what parenthood does to your brain is serious, and it's just getting started.

You planned the baskets.
The outfits.
The meals.
The schedule.

And now it's Monday...
and your brain feels completely scattered.

Not because you did anything wrong.
Because that was a lot to hold.

This is the part no one talks about.

We call it "mom brain."
But what you're experiencing is part of matrescence, the shift your brain goes through in parenthood.

More responsibility.
More mental load.
More to track than ever before.

Of course your focus feels different.

When you understand that, you can start working with your brain again.

Not just physical.
Not just emotional.
Cognitive, too.

If things feel harder to track, organize, or follow through on…
there’s a reason for that.

And there’s a way forward that works with your brain now.

Take this free two minute quiz. You’ll finally understand what your brain is trying to do!

Birth + Beyond

What a weekend! I had a great time at the workshop this past Saturday. Myself and four others discussed the nervous system from preconception through postpartum. I always enjoy talking about matrescence (aka. mom brain). Thanks to everyone involved!

You didn’t lose your focus.
You took on the mental load of an entire family.
And your brain adapted.
Some call it “mom brain.”
But there’s a name for what’s actually happening: matrescence — the transition into motherhood that reshapes your brain, your focus, and your identity.

This isn’t about being less capable. It’s about understanding how to work with the brain you have now.

Being gentle with yourself isn't just nice—it's essential.

Research shows that self-compassion actually improves cognitive flexibility. When you're kind to yourself about forgetting the nap sheet, your brain has more capacity to adapt and problem-solve.

When you're beating yourself up? That adds to your cognitive load, making everything harder.

Working with your parent brain requires different approaches, different systems, and a lot more self-compassion than you're probably giving yourself.

Read more about what's actually happening in your brain (see it on the blog: Is Mom Brain Real?) 💙

Your brain isn't broken—it's adapting.

Mom brain isn't cognitive decline; it's your brain restructuring itself to meet the enormous demands of parenthood.

The memory lapses? The brain fog? The lost words? They're side effects of one of the biggest neurological transitions you'll ever go through.

Want to understand what's actually happening? Check out our blog post for the full breakdown (plus the 5 pillars that help you work WITH your parent brain).

You did it. 28 days. 🎉🧠

Not perfectly. You probably forgot some days. Some weeks were harder than others. And that's okay. The important part is that you showed up.

🫁 Week 1: Breath work that actually calms your nervous system
💙 Week 2: Self-compassion, self-advocacy, permission without prerequisites
🏠 Week 3: Small space shifts that reduce cognitive load
🏆 Week 4: Celebrating wins to sustain momentum

You proved to yourself that small, consistent shifts create real change. You don't need a complete overhaul to feel more focused and less overwhelmed. You need strategies that work for your parent brain.

What's next?

Keep practicing what you learned. Keep building on those wins!
