Redeem Health & Chiropractic

Redeem Health & Chiropractic Redeem Health & Chiropractic is currently based in Knoxville, TN. At Redeem Chiropractic, we have a lot of unique terms, turns of phrase, and analogies. Why?

To provide further insight on how the body adapts physiologically under stress, we like to use the “rubber band” analogy. When your body is properly adapting to stress, the spinal cord is in its most relaxed position – like a rubber band "resting" in the palm of your hand. When introduced to stress physically, chemically, or emotionally, the muscles around the spinal cord tense. This in turn cause

s the Dura mater (the outer layer of your spinal cord) to stretch and twist, similar to when you pull on both ends of a rubber band. When stress becomes chronic, the Dura becomes "stuck" and forms calluses that are called Dural Adhesion that prevent the spinal cord from relaxing once again. When the body is stuck in this kind of harmful neurological pattern, it's virtually impossible for your body to adapt and recover from the stress that we accrue on a daily basis - from the very small to the very traumatic. Our model of care is specifically designed to breaks these harmful neurological patterns and restore movement and balance to your spinal cord and associated tissues that have become stretched and worn out like the rubber band we just referenced. For example, when you walk into the adjustment area in our office you will find a giant, stuffed tiger (affectionately named "Tony") that we use as an example for our most popular metaphor for health. All we have to do is point to Tony and ask our patients: “Are you being chased by a tiger?”

What does that mean? Being chased by a tiger is synonymous with a body that is under constant and chronic stress. God has created your body to “adapt to” and “recover from” stress. STRESS (ie. physical, chemical, emotional, and spiritual) affects us every day of our lives – it’s inevitable and unavoidable! However, our bodies were created to “adapt physiologically” to the stressors in our lives and then return back to a place of homeostasis and rest. Dr. Pete often says, “A little stress motivates, more stress complicates, but a lot of stress breaks down and deteriorates the body.” The problem lies when the body loses its ability to return to a place of homeostasis and rest. It is the lack of resiliency to stress that leads to all the health problems that people face today. Common physiological changes to chronic stress (symptoms of being chased by a tiger):

- High Blood Pressure
- Digestive issues
- Weight Gain
- Hormonal imbalance
- Dural adhesions
- Difficulty sleeping
- Fatigue
- Taking blood thinners
- Auto-Immune problems
- Pain & Tension
- Tachycardia
- Cancer
- Blood sugar issues
- Reproductive issues
- Depression
- Addiction
- Attention Deficit
- Hyperactivity
- Learning Disabilities
- Neurological degeneration
- Chronic illness

At Redeem Chiropractic, our goal is not to treat the symptoms of stress but to address and heal the source. We cage tigers! Caging tigers is a process. At Redeem Chiropractic, we have developed a model of care that identifies the true threat – STRESS, cages the tiger of stress, and increases the body’s resiliency to it. Our A3 model of care is broken down into 3 phases…

Phase 1 – Adaptation

Goal

Break all harmful neurological patterns on the spine that prevent the body from properly adapting to stress and the environment. Add building blocks to sustain the new changes. To bring the body from a place consumed in stress, to a properly “Adapting” body. Survival is the main goal of this phase – to get your body to a state where it can adapt and endure.
Phase 2 – Awareness

Goal

Retrain the body to properly “Adapt” & “Recover” to stress and the environment. So your body can regain proper “Awareness” of the internal and external environment in which it lives. Retraining the body is the goal in this phase. Just as someone who has woken up from a coma must re-learn how to walk. Phase 3 – Abundance

Goal

To facilitate the body’s ability to continually Adapt and Recover. This final phase will allow your body to Express Health and Experience Life to the fullest. Our ultimate goal is for your body to be able to Experience and Express. Our ultimate goal at Exodus Chiropractic is to always first glorify God and to second help your body express health so that you can experience life to the fullest.

Most people only treat the tip of the iceberg. Pain, swelling, and fatigue are just the signals. But the real reasons for chronic inflammation often lie hidden below the surface.

At Redeem Chiropractic, we help you address the root causes, especially the role your nervous system and spinal alignment play in regulating inflammation, stress, and healing.

Chiropractic care works from the inside out. When we remove interference and restore balance to your nervous system, your body finally gets the chance to rest, recover, and heal.

Ainsley, thank you for the amazing ways that you have served our team and our incredible patient family at Redeem. We are in awe of your grace, joy, humor and dedication to serve the Lord and the people in front of you — you are a treasure and a gift to all who know you!

We know everyone will miss her just as much as we do, but Ainsley is super grateful to be just a couple of hours away, and knows she will get to make some trips back to Knoxville soon 🥹

Creating Resiliency

To provide further insight on how the body adapts physiologically under stress, here at Exodus Chiropractic Dr Pete likes to use the “rubber band” analogy. When your body is properly adapting to stress, the spinal cord is in its most relaxed position – like a “rubber band” resting in the palm of your hand. When consumed by stress, the tension on the spinal cord increases. The dura (the outer layer of the spinal cord) stretches and twists, like when you pull on both ends of a rubber band. When stress becomes chronic, your spinal cord can no longer achieve a relaxed position. Nor can it return to its normal state. Harmful neurological patterns can then develop and make it impossible for your body to adapt and recover. Our A3 model of care breaks these harmful neurological patterns and restores that stretched and worn out rubber band (your spine) to its original and healthy condition! At Exodus Chiropractic, we have a lot of unique terms and vocabulary. In our office, we have a big poster that asks, “Are you being chased by a tiger?” What does that mean?
