Every Friday for the next couple of months we will be spot lighting our med crew. Today we will be introducing Julie Herzfeldt and Chris Hager. They have been flying and working side by side for over two years at LifeStar 1. We have put together a little Q and A for y’all to get to know them a little better.

Yesterday evening, past and present members of UT Lifestar gathered at our Morristown base to celebrate the retirement of pilot Kirk Knox.

Kirk’s career in aviation began in 1985 with the United States Army, and for the past 22 years, he has been an invaluable member of the UT Lifestar team. His extensive experience flying a variety of airframes within the UT footprint has enabled him to transport over 2,500 patients throughout his remarkable career.

While we’ll certainly miss him, it’s time for Kirk to relax and enjoy the well-deserved rewards of retirement. Please join us in congratulating him on an outstanding and impactful career dedicated to helping others across the UT Lifestar network!

With all the new faces. We wanted to reintroduced ourselves. In the up coming months we will be introducing the bases, med crew, pilots and dispatch.

For the first month we will be exploring Lifestar 1 that is located in Morristown, TN. They fly in a EC 135 which can fly in both IFR (instrument flight rules) and VFR (visual flight rules) conditions. They can fly in the clouds if needed. With an EC 135 this team can transport neonates, ECMO, Impella, and ballon pump patients. We can’t wait to spot light the team later on this week. Let us know in the comments if you have any questions about the base or the helicopter.
