Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center

Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center Welcome to Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. Located near beautiful downtown Knoxville, Tennessee, we are the flagship hospital of Covenant Health.

Fort Sanders is the region’s technology leader, offering robotic-assisted surgery, bi-plane angiography, and a variety of minimally invasive procedures designed to minimize complications and recovery time. Fort Sanders is a regional referral center, where other hospitals send their most difficult cases. This designation allows us the opportunity to bring the newest technologies and services to patients from all over East Tennessee and surrounding states. Our goal is excellence and we strive for nothing less. For example, our Neuro/Spine Center of Excellence features a Joint Commission certified Stroke Center, CARF accredited inpatient rehabilitation, and a host of diagnostic and treatment options for patients who have had or are having a stroke. With more than 350 active physicians and a staff of 2100 health care professionals all determined to make your visit as comfortable as possible, I know that you'll quickly find that being at Fort Sanders is like being with your family. And that's what we call Regional Excellence. 💙🫀 We’re proud to bring another Fort first to East Tennessee with the introduction of leadless pacemaker implantation using an internal jugular (neck vein) approach. This innovative technique helps patients recover more comfortably and get moving sooner, expanding access to minimally invasive cardiac care right here at home.

Traditionally, leadless pacemakers are implanted through a vein in the groin, requiring patients to remain flat for long periods after the procedure. By using the internal jugular vein, patients can mobilize earlier, avoid prolonged bedrest, and receive the same trusted level of safety and effectiveness, even for those with more complex vascular needs.

🎉 This milestone was proudly celebrated with Dr. Elliott Goodwin and our dedicated Electrophysiology and Cath Lab teams, whose innovation and teamwork continue to position Fort Sanders Regional as a leader in patient‑focused cardiac treatment.

🩺 Happy Doctors’ Day!

Today, we proudly celebrated our physicians and the commitment they bring to caring for our patients and supporting our teams. With a Mardi Gras-inspired celebration and this year’s theme, Behind the Mask: Who Heals the Healer?, we paused to recognize those who give so much of themselves every day.

Thank you for everything you do, and for letting us celebrate you today. 💙
