WEEKLY WELLNESS TIP: How’s your gut health? Our body gives us signals to let us know if our gut is okay or not. Things like indigestion, gas, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, IBS, and food intolerances can signal to us that we need to pay attention to and improve our gut health, which can be accomplished mostly through our diet. One simple thing we can do to increase the number of good bacteria in our gut, which will improve our digestive and overall health, is to make sure we eat at least 30 different types of plant foods each week. Wow, that sounds almost impossible, right? It’s not as hard as you might think, because herbs and spices count, too! What doesn’t count? “Plant-based” meat alternatives, which largely have nothing to do with plants, protein powders or bars, or anything else that isn’t a real, whole, minimally processed food. Could your gut use a reset? Is all the dietary advice out there just to confusing to know what to do? Reach out—I can help you sort through the noise, fix your gut troubles, and make eating enjoyable again by tailoring dietary recommendations specifically to your needs and desires, likes and dislikes.
