We love welcoming the University of Tennessee Horticulture Program for a wonderful, hands-on session that brought learning, laughter, and a little garden magic to our community. From helpful tips and plant know-how to great conversation and plenty of smiles, it was the perfect reminder that you’re never too old to grow something new. 🌱✨

It’s WILD here at Sherrill Hills! Creature Features turned our afternoon into a hands-on adventure. Topher and Leslie were absolutely fantastic—they brought so much knowledge, personality, and enthusiasm that it felt like our very own traveling wildlife show!

Residents were instantly smitten with Robby, the Patagonian Cavy, who graciously accepted all the pets and attention. Then we got to meet Ivan, the gorgeous Solomon Island Eclectus Parrot, and admire his stunning mate Aurora—they made quite the elegant pair.

And who could forget Tundra, the fluffy Arctic fox? She happily crunched her snacks while everyone watched in awe (and maybe a little envy at her adorable fluff factor).

We even explored a variety of fascinating insects—some of us leaned in for a closer look, while the bravest among us actually held them!

The grand finale? Pure sweetness: cuddles from Calamity Jane, the baby Bennett’s Wallaby who instantly stole every heart in the room.
Huge thanks to Creature Features for the beautiful rescue work you do and for bringing these incredible animals to us - making our day truly unforgettable. We are still smiling—and we might already be counting down to their next visit!

Friday’s Sherrill Hills Speakeasy Happy Hour was an absolute delight! 🥂🎶 You had to know the password to get in, and once you were inside, the fun was nonstop. Jeanne and Drew opened the afternoon with wonderful music, and our own Larry kept everyone entertained as MC — and yes, he sang “Minnie the Moocher,” which had the whole room smiling! And then Marcus “Twiddlefingers” Shirley took it to another level on the piano — truly amazing. 🎹✨ Add in all the costumes and neighbors dressed up, and it was one of our favorite happy hours yet!

We had such a great time today on our Sherrill Hills trip to Alcatraz East Crime Museum in Pigeon Forge! 🚍✨ We loved seeing the Prohibition exhibits, stepping into the Alcatraz cell recreation of Al Capone and taking in the powerful Twin Towers exhibit. One of our biggest highlights was learning about Dr. Bill Bass — the Knoxville legend connected to the Body Farm and the world of forensic science. What a fun day out together… and we’re still talking about it! 💬❤️

🍸🎩 Sherrill Hills went full Speakeasy! 🎩🍸
Our theater transformed into a theater candlelit, blue-lit “hidden club” for From Speakeasies to Alcatraz — complete with vintage touches, a “bootleg bar” scene, and the perfect Prohibition mood. We kicked things off at the piano, then traveled through the stories of Chicago, the Mob era, Al Capone, and the road that led to Alcatraz. The audience was hooked — great energy and so many smiles!
