Dream Night at the Zoo is a closed event held at Zoo Knoxville for our Hematology/Oncology and Rehabilitation patients! 🐯🐵🦁 After hours, patients and their families visit the zoo to enjoy their favorite animals and other special guests like characters from their favorite shows and movies. Congratulations to Erin, the February 2026 recipient of The Lily Award! One of Erin's colleagues said, "We couldn't have survived a difficult weekend in the emergency room if it wasn't for Erin and all the things she did that went above and beyond her required job description as a health unit coordinator. It is always very obvious that Erin cares deeply about her coworkers and our patients. However, this weekend it was exceptionally apparent that patient and family-centered care is and will always be at the top of her priorities."

This award symbolizes the hard work and dedication of a Health Unit Coordinator or Patient Service Representative who exceeds in technical skill, supports and coordinates efficient teamwork and portrays a welcoming and respectful regard for patients, families and visitors.

½ cup cottage cheese
2 eggs
2 tbsp of skim milk
2 tbsp of maple syrup
1 cup gf 1:1 ratio flour
1 ½ tsp baking powder
Fresh blueberries

Sweet: Chocolate chip cookie whip
Cottage cheese
Maple syrup
Vanilla extract
Pinch of sea salt
Gluten-free chocolate chip cookies
Topping: melt chocolate chips to pour on top and chill until hardened

Savory: Everything bagel dip

The 29th annual Dolly Children’s Golf Classic presented by The Wakefield Corporation raised $227,000 for the hospital, a $27,000 increase from last year! This year, 61 teams totaling 244 golfers played at Fox Den Country Club to fund vital services and equipment used to treat children in the region and beyond. We thank all sponsors, volunteers, participants and others involved who made this event a record-breaking year.

Students from five Knox County schools joined our hospital professionals at the annual Career and Technical Education Day. Over 12 departments and disciplines represented our hospital to educate high school students about various topics, including respiratory therapy, pediatric IV insertion, neonatal services, healthcare simulation, child life therapy and others. Programs like CTE Day provide hands-on experiences with pediatric healthcare experts for students interested in pursuing a career in the medical field.

Congratulations to Lindsay, the March Sunflower Award recipient! A coworker said, "Lindsay is a role model for standing up for what's right, even when it's not easy, because our patients matter more than our discomfort. She gives the example that our patients deserve every effort we can give them to ensure their needs are met. This child may never know the effort and care Lindsay has dedicated to her, but I will never forget it! I am blessed to have Lindsay as my friend and coworker.
