This year at Studio PT stretched me in a good way. Adding running guidance wasn’t about becoming a “coach”. It was about helping people improve their performance yes, but also stay healthy, and enjoy running wherever they are in the process. Some came in chasing big goals, while others just wanted to run without pain or burnout.
A few of MANY highlights from the year:
• Debbie — 2-mile state record
• Katie — 2:40 marathon, 4:46 mile
• Lauren — first sub-19 5K
• Josh — running 40 mi on his 40th for Second Harvest
• Jose — cutting 7 min off his previous marathon
• Jay — staying consistent and largely injury-free after an elite career
Grateful for the runners who trusted me this year. Looking ahead to 2026 and don’t hesitate to contact me should you be looking for running guidance.

I’ll be out of the clinic until Monday, September 29th to attend (not run!) the Berlin marathon with a couple clients. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to text me at 865-630-0794. let me know on May 2nd that before his 40th birthday, he wanted to complete a 40 mile run to raise money for .

Assuming his birthday was late summer or early fall, I told him “of course, how much time do we have?”

“My birthday is June 6th”

“How much have you been running?”

“I ran 3 miles two weeks ago and was a little sore after”

Our very accelerated training plan consisted of an initial assessment of strength and mobility so we could prioritize the areas to work on from an exercise standpoint followed by a training plan that focused on specific run/walk planning and a quick, but realistic, progression of long runs over a 3 week period.

Our main goals were getting as much time on feet while conserving energy early in runs, figuring out what fueling strategy worked best for Josh and mitigating injury risk as best as possible.

Needless to say, he absolutely crushed it - finishing the 40 mile run in a little over 8 hours with very little slow down. Most importantly raising thousands of dollars for as worthy of a cause as there is in our community.

A great store and great group run options!

It’s season and we have 3 weekly opportunities for you to work out on the track with friends! All workouts are designed by 3 time Knoxville Marathon champion Ethan Coffey and customized for your experience and ability level. Tuesdays we meet at 5:45 pm (7-9 miles) and 6:00 pm (5-7 miles) at The Long Run and Thursdays we meet at 6:30 pm (3-4 miles) at in University Commons by Publix. All abilities are welcome, it’s a great way to meet other runners and get faster!
