On 2/28/24, the FDA announced the removal of Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from food packaging. These chemicals can interfere with normal hormone functions and lead to disease or death.

RSV and hMPV
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is an RNA virus, classified as a pneumovirus. RSV is everywhere; almost all children are infected by age 4 years. Outbreaks typically occur annually in winter or early spring. Getting RSV does not protect against reinfection; therefore, the re-infection rate is about 40%. However, the antibody response to RSV does decrease illness severity. "RSV is the most common cause of lower respiratory tract illness in young infants and is responsible for > 50,000 hospitalizations annually in the US in children under the age of 5 years."

Human metapneumovirus (hMPV) is also a pneumovirus. It too tends to have outbreaks in winter and early spring; however, hMPV infections have a lower incidence than RSV infections.
