Our Purls of Wisdom Yarn Club recently donated baby hats in various sizes to The Angel's Closet PA. This wonderful organization supports parents in need throughout Monroe County by providing baby layettes and essential items for newborns.

Last year alone, Angel’s Closet provided 239 bundles to families in need in Monroe County. They are currently in need of baby quilts (homemade or store-bought) and wipes. If you feel encouraged to give, please consider supporting this amazing organization.

Recently, we enjoyed a wonderful presentation by the Lehigh Valley Audubon Society on the Birds of the Lehigh Valley. The presentation was educational, engaging, and very interesting.

Birdwatching is a favorite activity at Mrs. Bush’s. Our beautiful sun porches and natural surroundings provide the perfect setting to observe a wide variety of birds—from majestic Bald Eagles to cheerful robins.

Spending time in nature is especially important for senior citizens, offering moments of calm, connection, and continued learning. Experiences like these help support well-being while encouraging curiosity and appreciation for the world around us.

Our team showed up in every way—some coming in early to beat the worst of the storm, some staying overnight, and others volunteering to come in for extra hands. That dedication does not go unnoticed.

As we all prepare for tomorrow’s storm, here are some tips to help seniors stay safe and comfortable:

❄️Keep a supply of essential food, water, and medications on hand.
❄️Make sure flashlights, batteries, and other emergency supplies are accessible.
❄️Dress in warm layers and keep blankets handy.
❄️Keep phones fully charged in case of emergencies.
❄️Limit travel and stay indoors if possible.
❄️Consider making plans for someone to stay with your loved one for the duration of the storm.
❄️Arrange for snow removal so seniors don’t feel the need to go outside to do it.
❄️Check in with friends, family, or neighbors for support if needed.

A little preparation goes a long way in staying safe and cozy during winter storms!

As part of our AMERICA250 celebration, each month we’ll be stepping back in time to explore a different decade in American history.
This month, we kicked things off in 1900—learning about the invention of the airplane by the Wright Brothers, exploring high fashion with corsets for that classic hourglass shape, and enjoying music like “Bill Bailey, Won’t You Please Come Home?” 🎶
