Our residents enjoyed learning about the History of the Co**ha, and of course we had a little Co**ha treat!

The co**ha is one of Mexico’s most iconic sweet breads, with roots that trace back to the colonial period when Spanish settlers introduced European baking techniques to the region. Indigenous ingredients and tastes blended with these influences, eventually giving rise to pan dulce, a wide variety of Mexican pastries. The co**ha itself is believed to have developed in the 18th–19th centuries, distinguished by its soft, slightly sweet bread base and its signature crunchy topping scored to resemble a seashell (which is what “co**ha” means in Spanish). Over time, it became a staple in Mexican bakeries, or panaderías, often enjoyed with coffee or hot chocolate as part of daily life.

Our residents got their hands in the soil and their hearts in the moment as they planted strawberry seeds together. There’s something truly special about nurturing something from the very beginning—and even sweeter watching it grow, one day at a time.

A heartfelt thank you to Serenity Hospice Executive Director Tabitha for cooking up an incredible crawfish boil, and to Bryce with Cella Bella Home Care for bringing the jazzy trumpet vibes! 🎺🦞 A huge shout-out as well to our amazing LED Mandi and Chef Anthony for helping bring everything together. We are so grateful to our New Haven residents and families, along with everyone who joined us, for an evening filled with great food, meaningful connections, and wonderful company. We truly appreciate you all!

One of our residents, Mike, requested to make his famous Key Lime Pie for his friends and staff—and it did not disappoint! 🥧🍋 They were absolutely delicious and made with so much heart.
