🌟 Employee of the Month Spotlight: Trina, COTA 🌟

We’re proud to shine this month’s spotlight on Trina, a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) whose compassion, experience, and dedication make her an invaluable part of our team.

Trina's journey into occupational therapy is truly inspiring. After a successful 15-year career as a Research and Development Scientist in the pharmaceutical industry, she followed her heart and earned her COTA degree from Madison College in 2016. Since then, she’s been making a profound impact—especially in the lives of those in rural communities.

What sets Trina apart is her passion for adaptive sports and community service. She’s volunteered with adaptive downhill ski programs across Montana, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, helping individuals with disabilities experience the joy and freedom of the slopes. She’s also spent five years coaching Special Olympics tennis and swimming in Madison, WI, where she champions inclusivity, confidence, and skill-building for athletes of all abilities.

In her work as a COTA, Trina has a special appreciation for home health care. She is deeply committed to helping individuals in rural areas maintain their independence in safe, practical, and meaningful ways. Her clients value her for her positivity, resourcefulness, and the genuine care she brings to every visit.

Trina’s unwavering dedication, uplifting spirit, and passion for service make her a true advocate for quality care and inclusion. She doesn’t just support her clients—she empowers them to live life on their own terms.

Thank you, Trina, for your outstanding contributions and for making such a positive impact on the lives of those you serve. We’re so grateful to have you as part of our community!

🌟Join us in saying good luck and farewell to our summer intern, Ellie!🌟

The BCMH Rehab and Fitness team has had the pleasure of introducing Ellie to the fields of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. She spent the summer learning about our work, getting to know our patients, and discovering how we can make a real impact in people’s lives.

We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the patients who allowed Ellie to observe their treatment sessions—your openness and support were invaluable to her experience.

Here’s a message from Ellie:
“I would like to thank BCMH for welcoming me this summer. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity! The staff at BCMH and the BCMH Fitness and Rehab Center are some of the kindest and most genuine people you will ever meet. A huge thank you to the community for allowing me to sit in on visits with providers and therapists. Without your support, my internship would not have been possible. Thank you!”

Best of luck with the upcoming school year, Ellie! We will miss you and hope to see you back again in the future!

👉 Interested in a summer internship? Whether you're hoping to explore our services or get a glimpse into a medical career, we’d love to connect with you!

Please note: Internship opportunities at BCMH are very limited and based on availability. If spots become available, they will be posted in April 2026. Be sure to check back then — positions fill quickly!

🏅 Congratulations, Josh Tarnowski! 🏃‍➡️

Join us in congratulating former Physical Therapy patient Josh Tarnowski, who originally came to BCMH Rehab & Fitness Center with knee pain during running. Josh recently returned to BCMH to proudly share the medal he earned at Grandma’s Marathon, where he placed 163rd out of 7,555 participants with an impressive time of 2:44:52 — achieving a 3½-minute personal record (PR)!

Josh shared:
“I came into BCMH Rehab and Fitness Center with intense knee pain, hoping to recover quickly enough to run a marathon within a few short months. Penny and the team helped me build back strength, and I was able not only to run the marathon but to set a PR by over 3 minutes! I’ve run cross country and track at UW-Stevens Point and have had my fair share of injuries, but the BCMH team gave me the tools,
exercises, and guidance I needed to return to full strength. I ran the Boston Marathon in 2024 and hope to run it again — along with the Chicago Marathon this October — thanks to the rehab I received at BCMH.”

We’re incredibly proud of Josh’s accomplishments and honored to have been a part of his
journey!

🌟 Employee of the Month: Rachael 🌟

Please join us in celebrating Rachael as our Employee of the Month! While we are incredibly proud to honor her, this recognition is bittersweet, as Rachael will soon be leaving our facility. Her impact, however, will be felt for years to come—not only among her colleagues but within the entire community she has so passionately served.

Rachael’s journey in occupational therapy began in high school, inspired by her own experience with hand therapy. In her words:
"I knew I wanted to specialize in hand therapy as an Occupational Therapist since my freshman year of high school following a round of therapy for myself. We are connected to the world through our hands, and regaining function after an injury or illness is extremely important. I find high value in the work of helping people regain their independence and participation in their most desired activities."

With 11 years of experience in various settings, Rachael has brought skill, compassion, and dedication to every patient interaction. She adds, "I have most loved meeting patients from all over the country and hearing their stories. BCMH is a fantastic place to work with great colleagues and patients. I have loved getting to know the community."

Rachael, thank you for your incredible contributions, your unwavering commitment to patient care, and the heart you’ve brought to our team. You will be greatly missed, and we wish you all the best in your next chapter!
