I will be updating other resources for local food banks and distribution.
Dear Community Partners,
The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) is providing this update regarding the impact of the federal government shutdown on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which is administered through DCF and funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Key Information Regarding SNAP Benefits
October 2025 Benefits: SNAP benefits for October 2025 will be issued as scheduled for eligible Floridians. There are no anticipated impacts to October benefits being issued.
November Benefits Suspension: Until federal funding resumes, Floridians will not receive November SNAP benefits.
Eligibility Notices: DCF is continuing to process all applications and renewals during the shutdown. Therefore, clients may receive notices about their November eligibility, but they will not receive November benefits deposited to their EBT card at this time.
Existing EBT Balances: Clients can use the existing balance on their EBT card. Clients can check their balance by visiting ebtEDGE.com.
Resumption of Benefits: DCF is closely monitoring the federal government shutdown and will notify the public as soon as the Department can resume issuing benefits.
Application and Renewal Status
Processing Continues: The Department will continue to accept and process all new applications and renewals received.
Renewal Requirements: All SNAP renewal requirements are still in effect. Clients should complete their renewal when it is due.
No Need to Reapply: Clients should not resubmit an application or reapply when the shutdown ends, as this may slow down the processing of their benefits.
Other Assistance Programs
Medicaid and Temporary Cash Assistance: Florida's Medicaid and Temporary Cash Assistance are not impacted by the federal government shutdown at this time.
We understand this news is concerning for the individuals and families you serve. Please help us by sharing this information and encouraging clients to not resubmit applications.
