Jenn here again with another incredibly simple, yet deeply profound Pransky one-liner.

I think most of us operate under the assumption that our thinking is informed, that it's important, that it's trying to tell us something, that if we think it, we should listen to it.

But that's just an innocent misunderstanding of the mind.

Thought is only useful or not useful and the way you determine that is by the feeling it gives you. Did your spirits raise? No? Then let it pass. Something better and more useful will show up if you're not caught in the snare of unhelpful thinking. And the way you can tell if it will be useful to you is, again, by the feeling it gives you. Helpful thinking comes with a better, nicer feeling, it will keep you neutral or raise your spirits, but never bring you down.

Believe it or not, the answer to anxiety, anger, doubt, insecurity, fear and any other uncomfortable feeling that comes your way is simply to do nothing with it. By recognizing it for what it is -- just unhelpful thinking that only ever brings your spirits down -- you can make the split second practical decision, using your free will, to let it pass, not to engage with it, not to use it to build your narrative or your reality in the moment.

And it will indeed pass! Because thankfully, that's the nature of thought. It's ever moving, ever changing, neutral until you grab onto it, just formless energy taking form in your consciousness and then becoming formless energy once again as you let it flow out of your mind.

You get to decide moment to moment what thinking you want to use to build your reality and that's a very beautiful and incredibly hopeful thing.

If you've been taking all your thinking seriously, try only using the thinking that brings a neutral or nice feeling and pitch the rest and see what happens. You've got nothing to lose but a whole bunch of negativity. And what you stand to gain is the life you've been searching for and dreaming of.

We all know how to analyze and question and resist and judge feelings and experiences we don't like, but have you ever tried just getting quiet with them?

In this particular discussion, the client asked Linda, "But how, how do you get quiet with a feeling you don't like?"

And she answered in the sweetest way. She said imagine there's a big, wild animal that you want to get close to. You'd get very quiet, and very still and slow, almost small, and you'd just sidle up next to it. You'd sidle up next to it. That's what you want to do with a feeling you don't like, quietly sidle up next to it and just be with it, without doing anything to it.

And guess what?

The feeling goes. It goes all on its own without you doing anything to it, without you 'figuring it out', without you replacing it with another, better feeling.

And what happens on the other side of that big feeling is almost always better thinking and/or a deeper feeling. Often it's a new perspective.

If you give it a try you might even realize that no feeling can hurt you and that all feelings come and go, all on their own. ✨
