Our Couch Conversations Psychotherapy and Counseling, Inc. Office Tours Continue! In this video, you will see Dr. Annie Varvaryan's office space and how she likes to invoke peace and calm in her office to assist clients in letting go of their tensions and worries and focus on how to promote the changes they seek.

Dr. Annie has an hourglass which helps track the time but also creates soothing background noise during the session.

Dr. Annie also uses a diffuser of essential oils to create a light but pleasant smell in the therapy office.

While our practice offers virtual therapy sessions, there is something different about having sessions in person at your therapist's office, where the space is dedicated to client's therapy hour and doing the work it takes to promote changes. In our office, you are not distracted by the external stimuli in your home, car or office, and can focus solely on yourself without interruption.

If you would like to learn more about our office space, the services we offer or our therapists, please contact us through our website or by phone (see Link Tree above).

In this video, our Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, Skyller Tritch, shares great insights and information on Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) as well as some evidence-based ways of treating those symptoms.

Skyller works with teens, adults, young adults, older adults, families and couples with a range of diagnoses and presenting symptoms. One of the recurring symptoms Skyller works with is OCD, and she likes to use different approaches to treat this condition based on the client's needs.

OCD symptoms can include obsessions and/or compulsions and are considered time-consuming thoughts and behaviors that cause a lot of distress, and get in the way of someone functioning or making progress.

We treat OCD through different approaches including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) to try to reduce these symptoms, challenge unhelpful thought processes, and develop new associations with these behaviors.

If you would like to learn more about OCD or how we work with OCD at Couch Conversations Psychotherapy and Counseling, Inc., please feel free to reach out to us through our website (CouchConversationsTherapy.com) or by phone call (818-275-0559).

For National Mental Health Awareness Day, we wanted to share how one of our therapists prepares for his sessions and approaches his clinical work with clients.

Gary Amirbekyan is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, who works with individuals, couples and families including teens and adults at Couch Conversations Psychotherapy and Counseling, Inc. Gary does the necessary prep work before his sessions to make sure he is ready for his upcoming sessions with the content he would like to teach, discuss, and process with his clients.

Gary focuses on reducing symptoms, increasing insights, and assisting clients in building awareness of what changes they would like to promote, and working toward those changes throughout the course of treatment. He understands how challenging it could be to start the mental health journey of taking care of oneself, and he creates a calming and reassuring space to make that happen for clients.

Mental health is an important part of our lives and having a therapist who is well-equipped in providing the support and guidance needed to help someone is essential. If you would like to learn more about mental health, our therapists, or the services we offer, please reach out to use through the website listed above (see Link Tree).

We encourage everyone to take care of themselves today and everyday!

Our Couch Conversations Psychotherapy and Counseling, Inc. Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, Skyller Tritch, does so much outreach in our community! One of the ways she gives back is by running a monthly meditation session for CVHS students () at the WellNest Center ().

Join Skyller as she walks us through her prepartion routine including identifying the meditation she will be conducting for the students, getting pizza for the students so they have something to eat before the meditation starts, and offering a calming space for students to find their inner peace.

Mindfulness based practices have been shown by research students to reduce symptoms and offer practical tools for dealing with life's stressors. The recommendation is meditating for 10 minutes a day so that you are better equipped to manage the challenges that life throws at you!

If you would like to learn more about the other community events Skyller is a part of or how she could participate in one of your events, send us an inquiry or call from the number listed on our website (see Link Tree above).

Couch Conversations Psychotherapy and Counseling, Inc. participated in this year's Su***de Prevention Week at CVHS (), in collaboration with the WellNest Center (). We feel fortune to be able to speak to the students about the various resources available to them if they are going through mental health struggles both on and off campus.
We passed out bubbles which could be used to practice deep breathing strategies; we gave out positive affirmation wristbands; kindness stickers, and more!
Su***de prevention awareness is an important part of the mental health of students, and we are thankful for the opportunity to increase awareness of these important issues in our community.
