Takeout Challenge - La Crosse 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic of 2020 has resulted in many restaurants losing business and laying off employees. Many are now operating with limited hours and reduced menus. Some have even closed and some may never reopen.

People are wisely staying at home and limiting their direct and indirect interactions with each other in an effort to reduce the transmission of the virus. This is all good, but the current quarantine and social distancing limits the restaurants to takeouts only.

In an effort to help our neighbors who own and work at restaurants, please order takeout as often as is feasible and tip generously. You can pick it up or if the restaurant has delivery, have it delivered to your door.

The restaurant business is like most others in that it takes a certain amount of gross sales just to net enough profit to cover regular expenses. Many restaurants sales are down even with the takeouts and deliveries, and if they can’t get their sales up and quickly, they will quickly fail.
