🌿 Ready to begin your yoga journey? 🌿

Our Beginner’s Iyengar Yoga Series starts Tuesday, September 9 at 5:15 PM — and continues every Tuesday evening at The Yoga Place in downtown La Crosse.

This class is perfect if you’re new to yoga, returning after some time away, or wanting to build a stronger foundation in Iyengar practice. You’ll learn the fundamentals while gaining strength, stamina, flexibility, and stress relief.

🧘🏼‍♀️ What you’ll get:
- Build strength and flexibility at your own pace
- Learn how to move with more body awareness
- Reduce stress while gaining confidence in your practice

Perfect if you’re brand new, easing back in, or just want to slow down and really understand the poses.

This year marks the 11th International Day of Yoga, a celebration that welcomes and values the participation of all. The goal is to transform yoga into a widespread movement that emphasizes well-being and promotes global health and peace.

On this International Day of Yoga, please join me for a general yoga class to celebrate the principles of kindness and compassion, charity, and respect for all people that the philosophy of yoga promotes. All donations will go toward the care of the children at the orphanage.

Chris Saudek and Nicolle Roen once again fill The Yoga Place with the unique combination of sacred mantras and restorative yoga practice in this special evening event to nourish your body and mind.

The combination of physical postures, meditative breathing, and live contemplative sound provides a unique environment for your practice that will leave you feeling grounded and refreshed. Chris will skillfully lead you through a thoughtful and rejuvenating asana practice while Nicolle fills the studio with the relaxing sounds of her voice, drums, drones, and singing bowls.

The action of arching the spine backward (Purva Pratana in Sanskrit) “stimulates the nervous system and enlivens a weary mind” according to BKS Iyengar. But, he goes on to say that “despite arousing the mind, backbends make it reflective rather than distracted and they banish fear and lend courage.”

Backbends demand a fair amount of physical flexibility but strength is also needed to not overuse flexibility. In this class we will explore in greater detail the flexibility in the shoulders and hips and the strength in the legs, arms and back that are needed to do Urdhva Dhanurasana from the floor. Urdhva Dhanurasana or Dwi Pada Viparita Dandasana are often done in regular classes with support of a chair. Various ways to build up to this invigorating pose will be explored as well. For those already practicing Urdhva Dhanurasana, and those working towards this asana, details to improve their poses will be given.

PLEASE NOTE: Students attending the class online will benefit most by having ropes available.
