Overhouse has spent the past few years increasingly engrossed in film photography, a quest that has influenced his approach to digital photography. Stripping the photographic act down to basics has allowed Overhouse to refocus his intentions, live more in the moment, and he has seen his work evolve into a lo-fi style that speaks to him, an extension of his energy, tapping into a sense of loneliness and curiosity with a raw approach that speaks to his search for identity.

The Practice

Art therapy employs creative, nonverbal means of accessing grief, trauma, and personal issues. The practice has been around since the 1940’s, and registered practitioners require a master’s degree in art therapy. The creation of art can play a unique role in therapy, encouraging change and offering new insights. Art engages your brain’s creative centers, allowing you to approach your difficulty from a new angle. No, you don’t have to participate in art! I have many clients who stick to talk therapy.

The relationship you create with your counselor is among the most vital aspects of healing. Find the person who is right for you. Give me a call to get an idea of what this is all about; I’m happy to answer your questions.

Melissa Fannin, MA, LPC, ATR 505 431 4366 melissa@melissafannin.com

I look forward to hearing from you.
