Katie from The Art Room Bangor hosted a Watercolor Painting class here at Brookdale La Crosse last week. She gave us some great tips and tricks to improve our watercolor paintings. We learned how to create depth by mixing different shades of the same color and how to do the wet-on-wet technique. We were able to experiment with these methods. We definitely put our own spin on our creations. It was great to be able to relax and enjoy being creative all while learning something new! 🎨 🖌️

David Marck, New York Jazz Musician, will be performing at Brookdale La Crosse. David, whose Uncle Lyle resides in one of our communities, has also launched a new branch of his family’s giving: grants to nursing homes and assisted living facilities to bring live music directly to residents. It’s a cause close to David’s heart. While visiting La Crosse in recent years, he has performed, gratis, at several area senior living facilities, including memory care units. One performance in particular stands out. “It was like her spirit returned for a while,” he said. “The music brought her back. We’re hoping to create more of those moments for the residents, their families, the staff, and even the musicians who share in it. It’s profound.”
