On Monday, March 24, 2025, the company 23 & Me filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. There are many legitimate news stories about it as well as a major 2023 data breach of the company. If you have used this company to examine your DNA, especially for health conditions, many cyber experts suggest downloading then deleting your DNA from the company. This data is not protected under HIPPA laws as it is an IT company and not in anyway associated with a health care provider. We are not supporting the company or telling you what to do - this is simply an FYI in case you haven't heard this news.

Here is one of many news stories about it:https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/security/23andme-goes-bankrupt-millions-peoples-dna-data-sale-rcna197874

Our own VP and former Archives manager of the La Crosse Public Library Archives is this year's recipient of the 2025 Virginia Irvin Volunteer Hall of Fame Award from the Wisconsin State Genealogical Society. ❤️

While Anita is recovering from a broken leg and will not be able to join in the festivities, she will be there in spirit. Lots of good sessions on the docket if you are interested in learning more about DNA and other strategies for your family history research. Plus vendors! March 28-29, 2025, in Eau Claire.
