Welcome to Aveanna, Maizi!

Maizi lives with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) and pulmonary hypertension. He also relies on a G-tube, trach, and ventilator. Through it all, he continues to show incredible resilience!

With Nurse Shavonte, Nurse Joyce, and the rest of his Aveanna care team by his side, Maizi’s family can feel confident knowing he is safe, supported, and cared for at home—right where he belongs.

As a retired history professor, Mr. Doc is no stranger to communication. When he struggled to find words and effectively communicate with those around him, he retreated from doing things he loved in his community.

Over the last few weeks, Aveanna SLP Mallory has helped Mr. Doc rediscover his voice with her gentle demeanor and encouragement. Her listening skills, patience, and therapy tactics have made a profound difference in Mr. Doc's communication abilities and confidence.

“We have only had a couple of weeks of speech therapy, but I can already see changes in Doc," said his wife. "He had gotten to where he would just answer yes or no instead of trying to really communicate the way I need him to. Receiving speech therapy from Aveanna and SLP Mallory has been wonderful! We are very thankful for this service to be provided right in our own home."

Now, Mr. Doc is back to visiting friends at the local nutrition center, one of his favorite weekly activities. This Speech-Language-Hearing Month, we celebrate therapists like Mallory and all they do to help our patients live their most fulfilled, confident lives. Thank you for all you do!
