March was an adrenaline filled month. I went from a precipitous birth to an emergency placental abruption to two breech births (one was an assist ). Two births required a cesarean. When you have a deep desire to help families have a peaceful and calm birth experience, emergencies make it more challenging. As a midwife you are there to guide families and allow them to have a voice. Postpartum your goal is to help moms experience the joy of having a healthy beautiful baby in their arms along with the loss of their natural birth experience. In our culture cesareans are over utilized and because of that they are also demonized. I will forever preach the fact that the cesarean rate is too high AND sing the praises of this life saving procedure. You can hold both those facts in tension ❤️.

Postpartum visits and chickens are my favorite ❤️ Baby sister was born the day before "hatch day!" Big sister showed me the baby chicks and chickens and told me all their names one by one. What a blessing to walk alongside families as they grow!

Two beautiful little cherubs were born in February. One was born head first and one bottom first. One was born at the LaFarge Birthcenter and one was born at home. Both are doing well and thriving 🤍 🤍

What a blessing to walk alongside this sweet family for their fourth baby, first boy, first homebirth! There is something magical about being at home surrounded by family when a mother welcomes new life! I will miss all the joy and love they brought to each visit 🩵

Have you ever watched the sunrise?
Have you ever watched a flower bloom?
Have you ever watched an eagle sore?
Have you ever watched a cocoon open into a beautiful butterfly?
Yesterday during a very special 6 week visit I realized that this is motherhood. Pregnancy, birth and postpartum are a lot of work, but the rewards are great! Not only do you get a sweet baby, but you get to recreate yourself in the process.
I have the honor of watching women grow not only physically with a baby, but also mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I am SO honored to be "with women."

Yesterday I was blessed to support and assist two mamas bring their baby boys earthside 🩵🩵
It amazes me how people and circumstances can be so different, yet birth is birth. Every woman has to go through the same process but in her own way. Unique yet universal. Birth never fails to amaze me. I am so honored to be the witness to the miraculous!
