Luis “Louie” Guillen Jr.
1966 – 2025
Luis Guillen Jr., known lovingly by many as J, Junior, Uncle Jay, and most often Louie, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Born and raised in the Harlingen/Primera area, Luis was a proud graduate of the Harlingen High School Class of 1984—forever carrying the motto, “Cardinal Spirit never dies.”
Luis never met a stranger. He had a way of making everyone feel welcomed and valued, treating people with kindness, respect, and humility. He never forgot his roots, and his generous spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He dedicated 33 years of service to UPS, where he not only worked hard, but also built lasting friendships with many of his customers. He was proud of his work and the relationships it brought into his life.
Outside of work, Luis found his greatest joy in the outdoors. Whether he was casting a line in the Laguna Madre for redfish, trout, and flounder aboard his Shallow Sport, preparing for hunting season at the deer lease, or hosting legendary backyard barbecues and fish fries at home, he was truly in his element. His property was his sanctuary—a place he lovingly maintained and shared with friends and family.
Luis was preceded in death by his father, Luis Guillen Sr., and his beloved daughter, Hannah Victoria Guillen.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Vicky Guillen; his son Jared Guillen and daughter Allie Guillen; his mother, Carmen Guillen; his brothers Leonard (Sylvia) Guillen and Javier (Mari) Fuerte; his sisters Marta (Cisco) Castro, Bella (Mike) Barnes, Rosie (Ric) Medill, Carmen (George) Avila, Linda (Mike) Guillen, Letty (Arnold) Lopez, and Crysty Guillen; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends who became like family.
A celebration of Luis’s life will be held on Saturday, June 14 at 5:00 PM at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park in La Feria, Texas.
