🦠Communicable Disease Awareness and Prevention in Union County

Currently, there are no confirmed cases of measles in Union County, but we want to provide important information to help keep our community safe. CHD actively monitors communicable diseases like measles and will communicate promptly if any cases are confirmed and if there is a risk of exposure to the wider community.

Measles symptoms can include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a rash. If you or your child experience these symptoms, call your healthcare provider before visiting so the clinic can take precautions to prevent exposing others.

The MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine is safe and highly effective at preventing measles. Staying up to date on vaccinations is the best way to protect yourself and the community.

For questions or more information, visit chdinc.org or call 541-962-8800.

Talk to your provider for any questions and concerns you may have.

Family Safety Starts with a Plan
National Preparedness Month is the perfect time to talk with your family about what to do in an emergency—home fires, power outages, floods, or other local hazards.

Key Steps:
✅ Establish meeting points 🏠 – Decide where your family will gather if separated.
✅ Assign responsibilities – Make sure everyone knows their role.
✅ Practice evacuation routes 🚗 – Walk or drive the routes so everyone is familiar.
✅ Create a communication plan 📞 – Know how to reach each other and your out-of-town contact.

Consider everyone in your household—children, seniors, pets, and neighbors who may need help. A little planning now keeps your family safer and more confident.

Cigarette smoking is still one of the leading causes of preventable death in the United States, claiming over 480,000 lives every year—that’s nearly 1 in 5 deaths. Even today, the risk of dying from smoking is higher than it was 50 years ago. The good news? It’s never too late to take back your health and make the choice to quit.

Smoke Free Oregon is here to help. Text “READY” to 34191, call 1-800-QUIT-NOW, or visit www.quitnow.net/oregon
to explore free tools and support. Quitting isn’t easy, but you don’t have to go through it alone. Support is just a text, call, or click away.
