Magnesium matters—but the form you choose matters even more!

Magnesium citrate is commonly used for digestion support, but it can have a laxative effect. Magnesium glycinate, on the other hand, is more easily absorbed and gentler on the stomach, making it a better option for daily support like sleep, stress, and muscle recovery.

Instead of using a combo, it’s often more effective to choose the form that actually matches your needs so you’re not getting unwanted side effects.

Stop by Nature’s Pantry if you have questions or want help finding the right magnesium for you—we’ve got you covered!

Water-soluble vs fat-soluble vitamins—why it matters!

Vitamin C and Vitamin D are both essential nutrients, but they behave very differently in the body. Understanding the difference can help you absorb and use them more effectively.

Vitamin C is water-soluble
This means it dissolves in water and isn’t stored in large amounts in the body. Your body uses what it needs, and the rest is excreted through urine. Because of this, it’s important to get Vitamin C consistently through your diet or supplementation. Vitamin C plays an important role in immune support, collagen production, antioxidant protection, and skin health.

Vitamin D is fat-soluble
Fat-soluble vitamins are absorbed along with dietary fat and can be stored in the body’s fat tissues and liver. Because of this, Vitamin D is best taken with a meal that contains healthy fats to help improve absorption. Vitamin D is essential for bone health, immune function, mood support, and overall cellular health.

The takeaway:
Water-soluble vitamins usually need more regular intake, while fat-soluble vitamins require fat for optimal absorption and can be stored in the body. Small nutrition details like this can make a big difference in how well your body can use nutrients.

If you have questions about supplements or want help finding the right options for you, stop by Nature’s Pantry today. We would love to help!

Want to stay constipated? Just load up on protein powder and skip the fruits and veggies.

High-protein diets — especially when they rely heavily on protein powders — can slow digestion if there isn’t enough fiber to keep things moving. Many protein powders contain little to no fiber, and when you combine that with low fruit and vegetable intake, your gut doesn’t have the bulk it needs to form and pass stool efficiently. The result? Bloating, sluggish digestion, and feeling backed up.

If you’re increasing protein, you have to increase fiber and hydration too. Whole foods like berries, leafy greens, chia seeds, flax, and vegetables help add the soluble and insoluble fiber your digestive system depends on.

Another powerful tool for supporting regularity is slippery elm. Slippery elm is an herb derived from the inner bark of the elm tree. It contains mucilage, a gel-like substance that becomes slippery when mixed with water. This mucilage coats and soothes the digestive tract, supports healthy bowel movements, and can ease irritation in the gut. It works gently by adding moisture and helping stool move more comfortably through the intestines.

If your digestion feels slow, dry, or irritated, slippery elm can be a supportive addition alongside fiber-rich foods and proper hydration.

Protein isn’t the problem. Ignoring your gut’s need for fiber and support is.

You can find slippery elm and other gut-supporting options at Nature’s Pantry — we’re always happy to help you find what works best for your body!
