Congratulations! Here is what a coworker had to say:
Mattie is our right-hand man when it comes to patients in our department. She is the type of person that isn't afraid of tough situations. She steps in even without background knowledge, talking with patients through hard times and miscommunications. Mattie has recently been asked to take on our department’s Prior Auths because we do not have a position open for that at this time, doubling her work for the day while still juggling tasks for BH. Mattie is consistently reaching out to coworkers, checking on their wellbeing and to just see how there day is going. Something that stands out about Mattie is that she is willing to get involved with all patients and is admired by SO many, with Dr. Rice having a panel of 700+ patients. We appreciate Mattie, and our department, would be lost without her.

November is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month

Alzheimer’s disease affects millions of people across the country, and awareness is one of the strongest tools we have to support early detection, resources, and compassionate care. This month, we’re joining the national effort to shine a light on the impact of Alzheimer’s and the importance of understanding the signs.

Top 3 Things to Know:

1️⃣ Alzheimer’s is more than memory loss.
It can affect thinking, behavior, and the ability to complete daily tasks. Early signs may look subtle, which is why paying attention matters.

2️⃣ Early diagnosis makes a difference.
While there is no cure, early detection allows for more effective planning, symptom management, and access to supportive services.

3️⃣ Lifestyle choices can support brain health.
Staying active, eating nutrient-rich foods, staying socially engaged, and managing chronic conditions may help reduce risk factors.

This month, take a moment to learn more, share resources, and support those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. Go to our website to learn more:

Congratulations! Here is what a grateful patient had to say:
I want to thank Marlena, who works at the registration desk. I had received a lab request/order via MyChart from a specialist I will be seeing in Ohio. I wasn’t able to access it on my phone for some reason in order to print it out for the lab. I live 30 minutes away and was in town already, so I wanted to get it done ASAP Marlena was so kind. And patient! She tried several different ways to get it printable and wouldn’t give up! I’m 71 and not tech savvy at all. She was finally able to print the lab order. We were both thrilled. and I was able to get it done without another trip to town the next day. She’s a great employee and advocate for the people she serves. Please recognize her outstanding service and support to those of us facing difficult and stressful medical conditions. She’s a credit to GRH. Thank you!

💛 A heartfelt thank you to the La Grande Fire Department and our community!

Your generosity has made a real difference for local cancer patients. Through the T-shirt fundraiser and community donations, LGFD raised $1,100 and created 27 comfort bags for patients (well past the original goal of 10!).

Our Oncology team was honored to accept these thoughtful gifts on behalf of our patients and will ensure they reach those who need them most.

Your compassion reminds us how strong this community truly is. Thank you for standing with our patients and showing what it means to care close to home.
