I have been getting questions about embroidering stockings. I charge $10 per stocking for one color/font. Some stockings are easier than others to embroider directly on the cuff. For those that are more challenging, I can also attach a patch in a coordinating fabric. Here are some of the ones I’ve done. 🎄🎅🏼🤶🏻

I hope 2022 has been good to you so far! Does anyone else think it’s going faster than ever??

We moved from our gorgeous 1908 home in LaGrange to an adorable 40s cottage in Buckner (which has needed a lot of work) and then got a new puppy. I’ve mostly got things back under control and am opening up orders and commissions again. The holidays are barreling towards us and my cut off date will be early December this year so get your orders in!

In Which We Learn How We Got Here

I have sewn as a hobby most of my life. I’ll go years without doing much more than replacing a button only to make a full dress and cape, or other costume for someone (usually my daughter). I love sewing but it’s been a very sporadic love, with fits and starts, and occasional antipathy. When Covid-19 struck, people were immediately making masks for healthcare workers and I thought, maybe. But it didn’t really stick, and so many people were already working on them. When the pandemic ramped up in April, and my kids were having to work, I decided it was time. There was no way they were going about maskless on my watch! I started with the traditional rectangle but didn’t like the fit. I found a wonderful YouTube video by Daisy Multifacetica, and started out making them her way. At first I handed them out to everyone to let me know what worked and what didn’t, tweaking and replacing along the way. I decided to sell them when friends insisted the masks were really good. To be honest, coming up with the name catapulted me into taking my endeavor online. I could not waste Sew Seamstressed Out by sitting around thinking and considering forever!

At this point, hundreds of masks later, I’m fairly confident in how they will turn out - although sometimes my machine surprises me by eating the fabric or careening wildly while stitching rather than in a straight line (ok that might be me). I am loving this process, though, and the creativity that comes with it. I’m meeting so many very nice people, learning their stories, and really enjoying this work. I’m only sorry it took a pandemic to get me here!

Thanks to all of you with me on this wild ride; I really appreciate your support! To all of us going through this crazy time together: this too shall pass. Hang on and mask up!
