Hello everybody! I will begin offering video televisits for established patients. These will be available for interactions that do not require a physical exam such as medication refills and hormonal therapy adjustments. We continue to offer routine gynecology care with a focus on menopausal management. I offer hormone therapy in several forms including prescription patches and gels through traditional pharmacies when available. I also utilize compounding pharmacies for more tailored dosing through oral medication or topical creams in patients who prefer that method. I also offer hormone pellet therapy through biote and biote providers have made significant changes to our pellet therapy regimen this year. The goal is to provide enough hormone replacement to treat symptoms while avoiding high dosing which can lead to side effects. I have seen better results with these changes. It is exciting to see women’s healthcare progress towards healthier aging by fixing the underlying deficiencies we all face as we enter into menopause. I am still accepting new patients.

Good morning! It has been brought to my attention that there may be some misinformation circulating regarding menopausal hormone therapy and breast cancer risk. I would like to clarify this issue and assure you that research regarding this particular subject has been ongoing for decades. We know that hormone replacement when using hormones in their “natural” form do not increase breast cancer risk and even may reduce the risk as shown in some studies. Synthetic progestin has a link to breast cancer which is why I have chosen not to prescribe this particular hormone for long term use. Hormone therapy can be taken in several forms and dosing should be tailored to a woman’s symptoms and needs. Many people have assumed over the years that because most breast cancers have estrogen and progesterone receptors within them, that the hormones caused the cancer to begin with but this is an incorrect assumption. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and while some are on hormone therapy many breast cancer patients are not on hormones at the time of diagnosis. The causes of breast cancer are multiple and related to the overall health of a woman, lifestyle choices such as smoking or alcohol intake, genetics, and often random factors that are out of our control. That is the scary part. We want something to blame, something we can change or do to stop breast cancer from targeting us. We feel more in control that way. However most often it is random and this is why yearly mammogram screening and regular self and physician exams are important in early detection of this treatable disease.

Menopause is a difficult life transition for so many women. Most of the symptoms related to the decline of ovarian hormone production can be effectively treated with bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. Unfortunately the weight gain caused by changes in metabolism is the symptom that is most resistant to treatment. As a women’s health advocate and someone who personally strives for fit and healthy living, this has been a frustrating aspect of my job and I want to help. The good news is that the data shows that peptides such as semaglutide and tirzepatide work for perimenopause and menopause especially when taken in combination with hormone therapy. Soon I will begin offering these compounded medications through our hormone therapy provider biote. I trust their products. I use their products.
