MotherToBaby California is an information service that connects experts in the field of birth defects research with moms-to-be and the general public in California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Hawaii, and the US territories. MotherToBaby CA was formerly known as the California Teratogen Information Service (CTIS) Pregnancy Health Information Line and is housed at the Center for Better Beginnings,

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the number of cases of whooping cough (pertussis) in California are 3 times higher than what they were at this time last year, with over 1,400 cases reported as of November 16. Welcome to MotherToBaby California!

MotherToBaby California is dedicated to providing FREE evidence-based information to mothers, healthcare professionals, and the general public about medications, alcohol, drugs of abuse, herbal supplements, chemicals, infectious diseases, and other exposures during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. In addition to our information service, pregnant women are also invited to participate in a research program where pregnancies are followed via phone interviews.

MotherToBaby California specialists answer questions for California residents. Generous funds provided by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) also allow us to assist residents of Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and the US Territories of American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.
