UCSD - Center for Functional MRI

UCSD - Center for Functional MRI UC San Diego established the Center for Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging in 2002.

We provide state-of-the-art MRI technologies to the San Diego research community, as well as education and support on using these technologies. At the Center for Functional MRI (CFMRI) we believe that biomedical research has the power to improve the quality of human life and transform our understanding of the world. The overall mission of the Center is to support biomedical research projects that

use MRI to further our understanding of anatomy, function and physiology. We achieve that mission by providing state-of-the-art MRI technologies (two 3T short bore scanners (GE MR750) for human studies and a 7T system, Bruker Avance II Console for small animal imaging) to the San Diego research community and by also educating and training the community on the use of these technologies. Since it opened in 2002, the CFMRI has supported the research activities of over 60 funded projects from UCSD, the Salk Institute, San Diego State University, the Burnham Institute, and the Scripps Research Institute. The estimate of total annual funding of projects supported by the CFMRI is approximately $40M. We invite you to explore our website, and learn more about us to get a glimpse of the exciting research and educational activities taking place here.
