The Grossmont Healthcare District announced its support for the San Diego Seniors Community Foundation's "Longevity Club" project at a press conference yesterday. The District's $250,000 commitment will launch funding for the $2 million project to help build a brighter future for seniors in East County.

San Diego Seniors Community Foundation's vision is to create an innovative hub for seniors that involves a revolutionary reimagining of what it means to age well, with state-of-the-art fitness centers, programs on topics such as art, technology, finances, and travel, all designed to enrich older adults. It will also serve as a place of belonging for the aging population to socialize and will have on-site case managers to help individuals navigate health insurance, medical care, etc. We are proud to support this amazing new project!

KNOW THE SIGNS: 1 in 3 teens in the U.S. will experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse by someone they are in a relationship with, and SD County has been identified by the FBI as a top destination for human trafficking in the U.S. But these types of violence and exploitation can be prevented when teens, families, and communities work together.

Join us on Thursday, April 16th from 5-6:30 PM to learn from local law enforcement and human services agencies about how to identify risk factors, respond to survivors in need of support and assistance, and encourage safe and healthy relationship behaviors and online activity. RSVP by calling 619.825.5010, emailing library@grossmonthealthcare.org, or visiting us in person to let us know you'll be in attendance.

March is National Nutrition Month, and the Grossmont Healthcare District is proud to partner with organizations like Serving Seniors to support older adults in East County in need of nutritious meals. Learn more about this program below.

For this month's senior spotlight, meet Lynn, one of our home-delivered meal clients. At 81, Lynn faces vision loss and can longer drive to get groceries, but our meal deliveries bring her comfort, nutrition, and independence.

"Having the meals delivered is something I look forward to. They're healthy meals with fruits and vegetables, and good proportions," says Lynn.
