September is Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Awareness Month. AFib is a common heart rhythm disorder in which your heartbeat might beat irregularly or faster than normal. Did you know that some smartwatches like Apple watches and FitBits can be programmed to use as a screening tool for signs of AFib? These smartwatches may help detect signs of abnormal heart rate patterns, but not as accurately as an EKG. Talk to your doctor if you have concerns.

For more reliable health information on heart conditions like AFib, visit here: https://medlineplus.gov/atrialfibrillation.html and check out our online and print resources on this topic at Grossmont Healthcare District's Health & Wellness Library.

Atrial fibrillation (AF or AFib) is the most common type of arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat). Read about symptoms and treatment.
