Material: Saline implants are filled with sterile saltwater, while silicone implants are filled with silicone gel.
Appearance: Silicone implants tend to look and feel more like natural breast tissue compared to saline implants, which can sometimes appear less natural.
Incision size: Saline implants can be inserted through a smaller incision because they are inserted empty and then filled once in place, while silicone implants are pre-filled and require a larger incision for insertion.
Rupture detection: In the case of a rupture, it is easier to detect a rupture with saline implants since the saline solution will leak out, causing the breast to visibly deflate. However, a rupture in a silicone implant may be harder to detect because the silicone gel may remain within the implant shell or leak slowly over time.
