💬✨ We are beyond grateful for this beautiful Yelp review from a family we had the honor of supporting.

This parent’s journey included NICU days, tongue and lip tie release, food allergies, pumping, and finally—finding their rhythm with breastfeeding. 💕 Through it all, they leaned on the individualized care, encouragement, and gentle guidance of our team.

Hearing words like “never pushy,” “so individualized,” and “they just care about you as a person” is exactly what fuels our mission here at SDBFC. Every family deserves to feel seen, supported, and celebrated in their feeding journey—wherever it takes them. 🌿

To this incredible parent: thank YOU for trusting us during such an important season of your life. We’re so proud of the progress you and your little one made together. 💗

If you’re looking for compassionate, expert support with breastfeeding, pumping, or postpartum nutrition, know that our team is here for you too.

It’s AANHPI Breastfeeding Week! 🌸

A time to center the voices, stories, and strength of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander families in their chest/breastfeeding journeys.

Too often, AANHPI families face systemic challenges in lactation care—from language barriers and public stigma to a lack of cultural representation in education and research.

But community-led support is changing that.

We’re proud to stand with organizations and leaders advocating for culturally relevant, accessible care that honors the whole person and their traditions.

✨ At SDBFC, our inclusive lactation care means meeting you where you are—with language-accessible support, trauma-informed practices, and deep respect for every family's unique story.

📢 This week and always, let’s uplift and amplify AANHPI voices in the lactation space.
Representation matters.

Not every breast changes the same during pregnancy — but if you don’t notice growth, it can sometimes point to Insufficient Glandular Tissue (IGT), which means there may be less milk-making tissue than average.

📏 Why it matters:

Breast growth during pregnancy is a good sign that mammary tissue is developing. This growth is often accompanied by chest/nipple tenderness, as well as your areolae becoming darker.

No growth doesn’t always mean a low supply, but it can be a red flag worth checking early.

💡 What to do:

Talk with your provider.

Book a prenatal lactation consult. An IBCLC can assess your breast shape/growth during a prenatal lactation appointment and help you come up with a game plan for making the most milk possible.

Knowledge is power — the sooner you know, the more options you have to protect your feeding goals.

“Will I ever sleep again?”

A question asked at 2am… 3:47am… and again at 5:12am. 😵‍💫

So here’s the deal:

Yes — babies wake often. Whether they are breastfeeding OR bottle feeding.

This frequent waking is biologically-driven: their bellies are small, their sleep cycles are short (to protect against SIDS), and their brains are busy building new skills.

But that doesn’t mean you’re destined for a lifetime of 23-minute naps and cold coffee.

Sleep improves with time, rhythm, and support — no matter how you feed.

And anyone telling you to just “give formula so they sleep” is skipping a whole lot of nuances.

So no, you’re baby isn’t broken.

You’re just raising a human with a tiny tummy and a big need for closeness. 💤💛

Wondering if you can mix pumped milk from different sessions?

You’re not alone—this is one of the most common questions we hear.

Here’s a simple rule: don’t combine warm milk with chilled milk. Let both cool to the same temp in the fridge before combining.

💡 And for easier bottle prep? Store milk in 2–4 oz increments. Your future self (and your snacker baby) will thank you.
