Meet Kitty 🐾❤️
Kitty came to see us for a leg injury after her family noticed a small wound. After a thorough exam and determining nothing was broken, she headed home with pain medication and antibiotics to help her heal and feel more comfortable.
While waiting for her medications to be filled, Kitty decided the best place for a little nap was in the arms of our technician, Amanda 😂 We’d say she made herself right at home! 💤🐶

🔬 What’s under the microscope? 👀
Pictured here are rod-shaped bacteria forming chains. This type of infection often requires more specific treatment rather than routine ear cleaners alone.
Pets with this kind of ear infection may show signs such as:
• Foul-smelling discharge
• Ear pain or sensitivity
• Redness and inflammation
• Head shaking or scratching
An ear cytology (gently swabbing the ear and examining the sample under a microscope) helps veterinarians identify the infection and choose the most effective treatment for your pet. 🐾

🐾May is Pet Arthritis Awareness Month 🐾

What is osteoarthritis?
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a progressive condition that affects both dogs and cats. It occurs when the cartilage that cushions a pet’s joints gradually breaks down, leading to pain, stiffness, and decreased mobility.
While it’s more common in older pets, OA isn’t just an “old pet” problem. Genetics, joint abnormalities, injuries, and excess weight can all contribute to earlier onset.
Because pets can’t tell us when they’re in pain, it’s important to watch for subtle changes in behavior. Although OA can't be cured, it can be managed.
Here are some common signs your pet may show if they have osteoarthritis. If you notice any of these changes, contact your veterinarian to discuss treatment options and ways to keep your pet happy, active, and comfortable.

Leptospirosis (lepto) is a serious bacterial disease that dogs can catch from puddles, standing water, or soil that has been exposed to urine from infected wildlife or other animals. The good news? Lepto is largely preventable with a yearly vaccine. Contact your local veterinarian about getting your dog vaccinated.
