Today, on National First Responders Day, we pause to reflect on the profound debt of gratitude and honor we owe to the selfless individuals who serve on the front lines of every crisis.

These are the heroes—our police officers, firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, dispatchers, and all emergency personnel—who consistently place the well-being of strangers above their own safety.

The honor we extend to them is not merely for the courage they display in extraordinary moments of danger, but for the countless hours of training, the emotional toll they carry, and their unwavering commitment to answering the call, day or night. Their dedication is the bedrock of our community's safety and resilience.

To every first responder: thank you for your sacrifice, your service, and the heavy burdens you bear. We recognize your invaluable contribution today and every day.

Today marks Navy Day, a time set aside to formally recognize the dedication and sacrifice of the United States Navy. From defending our coastlines and global waterways to delivering humanitarian aid and advancing scientific discovery, the men and women of the Navy are vital to our nation's security and prosperity.

We honor the commitment of those who serve, their families who support them, and the legacy of service that defines this essential branch of the military. Thank you to all sailors, past and present, for their unwavering courage and commitment to protecting freedom around the world.

Over 50% of employees in the U.S. don't know where their workplace AED is. In a crisis situation, this single factor could mean a 50/50 chance of life or death.

To make matters worse, the chances of surviving a sudden cardiac arrest decreases 10% with every minute that passes without defibrillation, with a 90% chance of survival if shocked in the first minute. CPR may buy you time, but only an AED can restart a heart.

Today is Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Day.

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) can happen to anyone, anywhere, with an estimated 10,000 cases that occur in US workplaces annually.

Don't wait for a crisis to get prepared. Ensure your workplace has easily accessible AEDs and that employees are trained in both CPR and AED use to protect workers and clients alike.

October is National Ergonomics Month!

In industrial work and warehousing, prioritizing ergonomics is key to a safer, more efficient workplace. Focus on:

• Proper Lifting Techniques to prevent back injuries.
• Adjustable Workstations and equipment to fit the user.
• Minimizing Repetitive Motions through job rotation and automation.
• Using proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as back supports and knee pads, to reduce physical strain.

By reducing strain and making safety a priority, you help keep your workers safer and healthier, while increasing productivity and efficiency.

Protecting the industrial workforce is paramount. Noise-induced hearing loss is a major occupational illness, but it is entirely preventable with a strong Hearing Conservation Program.

Industrial Workplace Hearing Protection Checklist:

1. Know the Exposure Limits: OSHA requires a Hearing Conservation Program when noise exposure equals or exceeds an 8-hour Time-Weighted Average (TWA) of 85 decibels (dBA).

2. Wear Mandated PPE: Earplugs or earmuffs must be provided and worn by all workers in hazardous noise areas.

3. Check the Fit: Improperly fitted hearing protection offers little defense. Ensure devices are correctly inserted or worn for maximum noise reduction.

4. Double Protection: If noise levels are extreme (above 100 dBA), wear both earplugs and earmuffs for maximum safety.

5. Annual Audiograms: Participate in all required hearing tests to monitor your hearing health over time.

Prioritize your hearing and commit to a safe work environment.

Having fire extinguishers at-the-ready could make the difference between a brief scare and lost life and livelihood. But what kind of fire extinguisher do you need, and how many?

The type and number of fire extinguishers depends on the highest fire hazard class present, the quantity of flammable materials, and the size of the facility. for instance, for Class A ordinary combustibles like paper, cloth, wood, trash, and plastics, you will need to make sure that a Class A fire extinguisher is within 75ft of any given area.

If, however, flammable liquids or gasses such as gasoline, oil, grease, or acetone are present, there must be a Class B fire extinguisher within 50ft. Electrical fires from powered tools or any plugged-in device would require a Class C fire extinguisher, but the distance is determined by the other hazards present.

Thankfully, many fire extinguishers cover multiple fire classes and work best in different environments.

1. ABC Dry Chemical Fire Extinguishers provide all-around protection against classes A, B, and C fires, ideal for the majority of workplaces.

2. CO2 Fire Extinguishers cover class B & C and leave no residue, ideal for mechanic shops and factories.

3. Purple K Fire Extinguishers cover class B & C and are particularly effective on flammable liquids and gas, ideal for the oil, gas, chemical, and utility industries.

Exactly how this plays out in your facility may vary, so it's essential to have your facility evaluated by a safety compliance expert to determine what your hazard level is and where you should put your fire extinguishers.

If you just need to restock on fire extinguishers, we have them in-stock and ready to ship. Please contact us at Sales@goSafe.com for quantity pricing and certified in-house inspection options.
