🩸 It was a typical day for Melissa Magana. She felt fine and had no symptoms as she headed to her high school blood drive in Chino to donate. She gave blood to help others, never expecting that act would change her life.

🔬 After routine testing, LifeStream found abnormal results in her donation, indicating cancer. 🏥 Melissa was instructed to follow up at her nearest hospital and was diagnosed with high-risk acute myeloid leukemia, a fast-moving blood cancer. Thanks to early detection, she was able to begin treatment immediately.

During her journey, she received 46 pints of blood products:
🔴 27 platelets
❤️ 16 red blood cells
💛 3 plasma

🤩 Meet William and Kathy Crane, a dedicated platelet donor duo from Yucaipa.

Kathy is a retired teacher and LifeStream volunteer who has donated over 84 gallons of blood. William, a retired electronic technician and AB positive donor, has given more than 32 gallons.
💪 “It’s the easiest thing you can do for your fellow man,” says William. The couple donates together at their local donor center in San Bernardino.
