It is an after-school program that is designed for middle school and high school students to receive FREE group tutoring and homework help, as well private tutoring sessions at a low cost for students that need tutoring in a one-on-one format. One aspect to our program that sets itself apart from other tutoring services is the intentional emphasis that we place on the interactions between students and our tutors. In addition to the standards of providing quality homework assistance, the Homework Hotspot aims to recruit tutors that can serve as role models for the youth that we work with. Academic success certainly is a significant priority, but we at the Homework Hotspot also consider character development to be an equally important area of growth in order to better prepare the youth we aid for future life experiences. To facilitate these opportunities of relationship building, the Homework Hotspot has a mentoring component where we match students with mentors who they meet with on a weekly basis. The Homework Hotspot also has an enrichment component where we offer other activities to students to develop them in different areas such as drama, photography, graphic design, and more. Our goal is to encourage a balance of academics and recreational fun in order to deliver a well-balanced after-school program that encourages wholesome development of each and every student here at the Homework Hotspot. We currently serve over 100 different students and are on the campuses of 2 different schools. With your help we will be expanding to 4 more schools before the school year is out, and we will be serving an additional 200 students!!
