Last month marked 3 years since I opened my private practice, so I figured it’s time for a re-introduction!
I’m Cade (they/he), a trans speech-language pathologist living in Seattle, WA and the owner of Loud & Clear Speech Therapy. I started this practice in 2022 for a lot of reasons, but the biggest one was to give myself space to practice in a way that ran counter to the way I’d seen in so many clinical spaces. Speech-language pathology can (unfortunately) be a very ableist field, and there’s a common misconception that SLPs are the ones in charge of “fixing” someone. I’ll probably talk more about this in a later post, but for now, I’ll just say that I prefer being the person giving clients the tools for their toolbox rather than insisting I have all of the solutions (spoiler: I don’t have all the solutions).
My practice has changed a lot over the past three years, and it will probably continue to change over time - just like I have! It’s gone from home visits to office visits to telehealth visits, and has worked with such a wide variety of people across the lifespan. I’m excited to see how it continues to grow, but I know one thing will remain constant - my commitment to supporting those who have most often felt unsupported in their journey.
More about me:
🧠 My areas of clinical focus are gender-affirming voice therapy and neuro-rehabilitation using a person-centered and strengths-based therapy perspective.
🍎 I've lived in Washington state (almost) my whole life, and I have no plans to leave anytime soon - I've called Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, and Spokane all home! (Spokane for a little too long, tbh)
⭐ I've received the ASHA Award for Continuing Education (70+ hours of continuing education) 3 times... which means I probably need a new hobby.
🗣️ I've been an SLP since 2016 and I am *just* starting to feel like I know what I am doing... sometimes.
Thanks for joining along on this journey! I can't wait to see where else it goes.
