Penrose Physical Therapy

Penrose Physical Therapy Listening to Patients. Achieving Lifelong Results! Penrose & Associates Physical Therapy opened in 2007. We opened with the mission of "Listening to Patients.

Achieving Lifelong Results." We exist to help people make better health decisions and enjoy the South Sound. We serve the Lacey, Tumwater, Yelm, Olympia communities which make up the South Puget Sound region. We provide outpatient orthopedics serving primarily the 40+ age group for back pain, knee pain, foot pain, shoulder pain, neck pain/headaches. We enjoy teaching walking and running mechanics and perform gait analysis on all of our lower extremity clients. We have free reports on a variety of topics on our home page that allow people to get a start on things that can help with their condition right away. We believe in education and providing free information to help the public understand what physical therapy is and how we can help. We perform custom orthotics as well as some over the counter inserts as well. We also have a specialized niche with the osteoporosis community and provide strength training and yoga classes for osteopenia and osteoporosis individuals. Progress in movement often begins with small, consistent steps over time. Many individuals rebuilding strength or recovering from setbacks benefit from structured physical therapy to support mobility, improve confidence, and promote smarter movement. The goal isn’t to push harder—it’s to move more intentionally, with guidance tailored to the person, not the problem.

Human bodies are designed to move, yet many experience stiffness, tightness, or hesitation during daily activities. While occasional discomfort is common, it doesn’t have to define the long term. Physical therapy offers an intentional approach rooted in understanding movement and developing strategies that fit into real-life routines. No random exercises. Just guided movement built around meaningful goals.

Many people view physical therapy as something to use only after injury or surgery. A key wellness insight is that physical therapy can also support long-term movement health before major setbacks occur. Small limitations in mobility, strength, or coordination often develop gradually and influence how joints are loaded during everyday tasks.

Addressing those patterns early can help build resilience, efficiency, and confidence with daily movement. Physical therapy works best when it is proactive, individualized, and focused on how the whole body works together—not just one joint or symptom.

Many adults assume physical therapy has to be aggressive, exhausting, or uncomfortable to be effective. That belief often leads to common mistakes: pushing through flare-ups, focusing only on one area instead of the whole movement system, or stopping too soon because exercises feel “too easy.”

Effective physical therapy is about applying the right load, at the right time, in the right direction. Progress comes from precision, not punishment.

When movement quality improves, joints are supported more efficiently, and daily activities often feel easier over time. A thoughtful approach builds long-term capacity, not short-term setbacks.

It was great to have Dr. Keith Roed, DPT at our clinic Friday-Sat training my team on Regenerative Therapies for Musculoskeletal care- the science, the art, the ground breaking results he found that will be published soon for MS clients, and ultimately he helped us refine our techniques (what he’s learned in the last 4 years) so we can fast track our way to excellent outcomes for our patients with arthritis, tendon pathology, scar tissue, stress fractures, bone edema, bony lesions, tendon tears. Great weekend of learning and Con Ed hours done ✅. Thanks Keith Roed — We can’t wait to continue to be the leaders in our community with Regen Therapies and provide even better outcomes.
