Penrose Physical Therapy Listening to Patients. Achieving Lifelong Results! Penrose & Associates Physical Therapy opened in 2007. We opened with the mission of "Listening to Patients.

Achieving Lifelong Results." We exist to help people make better health decisions and enjoy the South Sound. We serve the Lacey, Tumwater, Yelm, Olympia communities which make up the South Puget Sound region. We provide outpatient orthopedics serving primarily the 40+ age group for back pain, knee pain, foot pain, shoulder pain, neck pain/headaches. We enjoy teaching walking and running mechanics and perform gait analysis on all of our lower extremity clients. We have free reports on a variety of topics on our home page that allow people to get a start on things that can help with their condition right away. We believe in education and providing free information to help the public understand what physical therapy is and how we can help. We perform custom orthotics as well as some over the counter inserts as well. We also have a specialized niche with the osteoporosis community and provide strength training and yoga classes for osteopenia and osteoporosis individuals. Your balance has an age—just like your strength or mobility.

Many people are surprised to learn their balance ability can be 10–20 years older than their actual age. This can happen gradually from things like inactivity, injury, neuropathy, dizziness, or muscle weakness.

The encouraging part? Balance is trainable.

Just like strength or endurance, your balance can improve with the right exercises that challenge your muscles, nervous system, and inner ear.

At Penrose Physical Therapy, we help people improve stability, reduce fall risk, and move with more confidence through targeted balance and vestibular training.

It’s never too late to start building better balance. Reach out to us now. Link in bio for contact info.

Most people think balance comes from their legs.

But one of the most important balance systems actually lives inside your inner ear.

Your vestibular system constantly sends signals to your brain about head movement, position, and direction. Your brain then uses that information—along with signals from your eyes and muscles—to keep you steady.

When the inner ear isn’t functioning properly, it can lead to symptoms like dizziness, vertigo, unsteadiness, or difficulty focusing when moving.

The good news is that many vestibular conditions can improve with the right treatment.

At Penrose Physical Therapy, we use specialized vestibular and balance therapy to retrain these systems and help restore stability and confidence in movement. Schedule your balance assessment now by clicking the link in our bio.

Quick question šŸ‘‡

Which surface challenges your balance the most?

Grass? Sand? Gravel? Hills? Stairs?

Uneven or unstable surfaces force your body to rely more on your balance system, strength, and coordination to stay steady. Your feet, muscles, joints, inner ear, and brain all have to work together to quickly adapt to changes in the ground beneath you.

If these surfaces make you feel unsteady, your balance system may need a little training.

At Penrose Physical Therapy, we help people improve balance, stability, and confidence with targeted exercises designed to prepare your body for real-world movement—so you can walk, travel, and stay active with confidence. Book your balance assesment now. Link in bio.

Shockwave Regenerative Therapy, as demonstrated by Dr. Jennifer Penrose In this video, offers a powerful and non-invasive solution that gets to the root of the issue. If you’ve been struggling with chronic pain for months or years, you understand how it impacts every aspect of your life. Traditional treatments like rest, ice, and anti-inflammatory medications often provide only temporary relief. Shockwave Therapy offers several compelling advantages:

Fast-Acting Relief: Many patients experience immediate pain reduction and improved range of motion after their first session.

Long-Lasting Results: Unlike temporary fixes, Shockwave Therapy addresses the underlying tissue damage, providing sustained improvement.

No Side Effects: This non-invasive treatment carries no risk of infection, scarring, or medication-related complications.

Avoid Surgery: For many conditions, Shockwave Therapy can help you avoid costly, invasive surgical procedures and lengthy recovery periods.

Return to Activity: Get back to the sports, hobbies, and daily activities you love without the limitations of chronic pain.

Don’t let chronic pain control your life any longer. Our experienced team at Penrose Physical Therapy will conduct a thorough evaluation to determine if Shockwave Therapy is right for you. We’ll create a personalized treatment plan designed to address your specific condition and help you achieve lasting relief.

Try this quick balance challenge šŸ‘‡

1ļøāƒ£ Stand on one leg
2ļøāƒ£ Hold for a few seconds
3ļøāƒ£ Now close your eyes

Did it suddenly become much harder?

That’s because your balance relies on three systems working together: your eyes, inner ear, and muscles/joints. When you close your eyes, your body has to depend more on your inner ear and sensory feedback from your feet and legs to stay steady.

If balance becomes much harder without vision, it may mean those other systems need a little training.

At Penrose Physical Therapy, we help people improve balance, dizziness, and stability through targeted therapy that retrains the systems responsible for keeping you steady.

Better balance means more confidence in everyday movement. Book your balance assessment now. Link in bio

Posture and balance are more connected than most people realize.

When your posture shifts—like a forward head, rounded shoulders, or leaning forward while walking—your body’s center of gravity changes. This makes it harder for your balance system to keep you steady and can increase the risk of dizziness, instability, or falls.

Your body has to work much harder to stay upright when posture is off.

At Penrose Physical Therapy, we look at how your posture, strength, balance, and movement patterns all work together. By improving posture and strengthening the muscles that support it, we can help restore better stability, reduce strain on your body, and help you move with more confidence.

Better posture isn’t just about how you look—it plays a big role in how steady and strong you feel every day.

Many people think balance is something you either have… or you don’t.

The truth is balance is a skill—and just like strength or endurance, it can be trained and improved.

Balance depends on several systems working together: your muscles, joints, vision, inner ear, and brain. When these systems are challenged with the right exercises, your body learns to react faster, stay steadier, and move with more confidence.

At Penrose Physical Therapy, we use targeted balance and vestibular training to help people improve stability, reduce fall risk, and stay active doing the things they love.

No matter your age, it’s never too late to build better balance.

Here’s a quick balance check you can try at home šŸ‘‡

When you put on your shoes, do you:
šŸ‘Ÿ Stand while putting them on?
or
šŸŖ‘ Need to sit down to stay steady?

While sitting isn’t always a problem, difficulty standing on one leg can sometimes be a sign that your balance, strength, or stability may need attention.

Balance relies on your muscles, joints, vision, and inner ear all working together. When one of those systems isn’t performing well, everyday movements—like putting on your shoes—can feel less stable.

At Penrose Physical Therapy, we help people improve balance, strength, and confidence with targeted training designed to keep you active and reduce your risk of falls. Click the link in our bio to schedule your balance assessment now.

If everyday movements are starting to feel less steady, it may be time to have your balance checked.
