This Thanksgiving, we're reflecting on what HOME truly means.

Every day, we witness small miracles. A daughter who can enjoy dinner with her mom instead of worrying about medication schedules. A veteran who smiles when our caregiver remembers how he likes his coffee. A wife who finally gets a full night's sleep knowing someone trustworthy is with her husband.

For 17 years, Visiting Angels has been a part of the Thurston County community. Families have welcomed us into their homes during their most vulnerable moments. Nothing beats the smell of gingerbread cookies! 🍪🎄

Sweet Gingerbread History:
-Gingerbread dates back to medieval times - first recipe from 2400 B.C.!
-Queen Elizabeth I invented gingerbread men (she had them decorated to look like visiting dignitaries) 👑
-German settlers brought gingerbread houses to America, inspired by Hansel and Gretel
-During WWI, gingerbread was called "Liberty Cakes"
-A single gingerbread cookie has iron, calcium, and about 140 happy calories
-The world's largest gingerbread house was 60 feet long and made with 1,800 pounds of butter!

At Visiting Angels, our caregivers don't just provide care - they bake cookies, share recipes, and create joyful moments in the kitchen! Some of our favorite memories involve flour-dusted counters, secret family spice blends, and clients teaching us their grandmother's techniques. 🥧✨

Fun fact: Several of our caregivers have award-winning gingerbread recipes. Maybe they'll share if you ask nicely!

A Little Angel is On the Way!

We are absolutely thrilled to share some exciting news with our Visiting Angels family and community!

Our wonderful Care Coordinator, Makayla P., is expecting her very own little angel to arrive in March 2026!

It seems that while we're busy sending angels to visit and care for others, Makayla has been blessed with an angel of her own on the way. This precious bundle of joy will surely have the most caring and compassionate mother, who already knows so much about spreading comfort and love through her work with our team.

As Makayla prepares for this blessed arrival, our entire Visiting Angels family is here to support her on this beautiful journey. We know this little one will be born into a community that truly understands the meaning of care and compassion.
